Playing With Fire, 14 December 2007

Well, if there is one "good" thing about the way the man died in this dramatic opening scene, it was that he didn't suffer for more than a second or so. The man, checking out strange noises that pointed out to him by his female companion in bed, opens up the bedroom doors and is engulfed in a huge burst of flames. The medical examiner explains that he died almost instantly when that fire went into his lungs. The first breath "cooked" his lungs, etc.

Anyway, who started this fire? Was it an accident or arson-murder? That's the main story here, although we get others like CSI Wolfe owing $10,000 on a lost poker game, and some low-life named "Michael Lipton" (Innis Casey) trying to bribe him into looking the other way on the investigation. What's shocking is that Wolfe is "caught on tape" giving Lipton the money and then lies about it to Horatio. I hope he gets fired; he deserves it. Does anyone on this program, except for a couple of people like Calleigh, tell the truth? Have you ever noticed how many people lie on this program? (About a half dozen every week!)

We also see "Yehlina Salas" (Sofia Milos) once again. She has hired herself out as a private detective and "H" winds up hiring her to shadow Lipton (although he doesn't know at the time about Ryan's gambling problem.)
