I can appreciate the ... artfulness of this movie. I liked the playful atmosphere of it, the images (an orchestra on an ice plane, a sailing ship in the middle of a forest, a tree full of bird cages), the Alice-in-Wonderland absurdity of it all.
I also liked the structure - we follow two threads - one is realistic, about students reminiscing about their favorite professor and his famous lecture on Beethoven's 9th symphony, the other is actually the visualization of a story the professor used to illustrate his point.
But despite all this, I cannot rate the movie higher because after about thirty minutes, I found even the most bizarre images repetitive and the professor arc predictable. It all became quite dull and boring to me.
Oh, but at least the music was good ;)
