Trivia:
In the opening minutes, as Miss Marple stares in wonderment at the lobby of Bertram's Hotel, the manager is on the phone and says, "Uh, no, I'm afraid Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today." The line is from the 1934 Cole Porter song "Miss Otis Regrets" performed by many artists including Ella Fitzgerald and 'Nat ‘King’ Cole', and more recently by Bette Midler on the final episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" (1962). more
Goofs:
Continuity: When Elvira Blake and Brigit Milford enter the dining room and talk to Miss Marple, Brigit is in front. When the scene cuts back to them a second later, Elvira's shoulder is in front of Brigit's. The cut is too quick for their positions to change. more

Unlike others I very much enjoy McEwan's interpretation of Jane Marple as it more closely resembles the woman in the book rather than people's Hickson idea which wasn't my vision of Miss Marple. I love Geraldine McEwan each time she comes onto the screen. However, this film was greatly flawed, letting the Maid take the lead was not my idea of Marple (though she was trying to mentor a young girl which was nice) and the murder set up too convoluted--that HAT told you immediately what was going on.
I did love some of the toss in lines though . .the Hotel Manager at the very beginning saying into the Phone, "Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today" had me in stitches. .and i sang the song after the film was over.
