Fantastic programme counting down the top 22 Bond songs/themes, 19 November 2006
Author: Soul_Blade

With the recent Chris Cornell song for Casino Royale too recent for a place in the chart, this Channel 4 programme counts down the top 22 songs/themes even the unofficial one and spoof. We get to see a great depth into the music, the backgrounds, how they were made and we get to see all the performers (excluding Madonna and Paul Mc Cartney/Wings), composers, fans and co. have their say on the tracks. We take a look at some of the rejected themes and singers such as Blondie and Marc Almond (!?). A little brief look at the music videos. It was very interesting to hear that Alice Cooper had already done an original song of "The Man with the Golden Gun" which was then replaced by Lulu's horrid version but if you hear his, it's actually pretty good. A-ha explain their rocky relationship with John Barry in the recording studio for "The Living Daylights" and likewise with Duran Duran. The origins of the James Bond Theme by Monty Norman and the infamous lawsuit for the ownership of the theme back in 2001. In a bizarre twist, voters under 24 managed to get the well bashed "Die Another Day" by Madonna in a top place and without spoiling it, I think you'll know he gets the #1. I think this two hour programme was one of the best Bond specials you should watch and if you're a fan, you owe to it yourself to watch. 9/10
