Doctor Who: Genesis of the Daleks: Part 4 starts as the Doctor (Tom Baker) is forced to witness the destruction of the Kaled dome & the Kaled people inside it by the Thals rocket attack, thinking they have won the 1000 year war with the Kaleds the Thals celebrate & let the Doctor go. However Davros (Michael Wisher) is alive & well in the underground scientific bunker continuing his grotesque experiments & creating an army of Daleks, time is running out for the Doctor to save himself, his friends & the future of the universe...

This Doctor Who adventure as episode 14 from season 12 that aired here in the UK during early 1975, directed by David Maloney while Part 4 isn't necessarily the best of it's six episodes Genesis of the Daleks is a very strong story. The script by Terry Nation has settled down a bit, the Doctor, Harry & Sarah have all been reunited & some of this episode feels a bit padded, it mostly concentrates on a sabotage plot which doesn't really go anywhere & it disappointingly felt like nothing more than a 20 odd minute build up before the Doctor & Davros finally meet towards the end in this episodes best scene. There isn't even much action in this one but it's still good fun & I suppose it's a necessary part of a larger story.

The production values have been pretty high during Genesis of the Daleks which is unusual considering the tight budgets these Doctor Who show's had, the special effects have been OK with the deformed Davros standing out as a particularly good make-up job & there have been some giant clam like monsters too which aren't too bad looking. The sets have also been good throughout.

Genesis of the Daleks is a great Doctor Who story, although Part 4 isn't the best of it's six episodes I reckon you still have to watch it.
