I saw this 'movie' at a free screening last night - and while it is probably not the worst film ever made - it is still toe-curling in its awfulness. A lame plot, with a poor script and some really dreadful performances mean that this would even struggle to be a small screen Bank Holiday special - although I suspect that that is where it will end up. The only upside is James Fleet's rounded and robust performance as ex-teacher - sadly not enough to save the rest from almost certain oblivion. Faye Tozer launches her acting career - she used to be in Steps apparently - and I dearly hope that she gets no more work ever on the strength of this performance. Perhaps the saddest sight of all is seeing the once great Tony Slattery trying to make the best of what was possibly the worst character creation in the film - a bumbling local journalist under pressure from a local Mafia type - I know and it is a bad as it sounds - I'm sure tony's time will come again - but this wasn't it.
