  • Originally supposed to be released in 2007.

  • Ben Barnes was acting in the play "The History Boys" when he was offered the title role.

  • Actor Warwick Davis (Nikabrik) portrayed the characters Reepicheep and Glimfeather in the BBC productions of "Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (1989) and "The Silver Chair" (1990).

  • During filming, Georgie Henley (Lucy) lost two baby teeth. A bridge had to be created to fill in the gaps.

  • Ben Barnes had to wear hair extensions during filming because his hair was still styled short for his performance as Dakin in the stage play The History Boys.

  • Ben Barnes shaved twice a day to maintain a younger appearance for the film

  • Ben Barnes patterned his Spanish accent on Mandy Patinkin's performance as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride (1987).

  • According to Skandar Keynes, for one shot where he had to slide off a roof he had a $500,000 camera strapped to his legs, as they couldn't get any stunt men the same size as Skandar to shoot the shot.

  • WILHELM SCREAM: When the bridge is crushed when the soldiers are attempting to cross the river.

  • Director Andrew Adamson added a grand scale Castle Raid action scene to the film which is not in the book, to make the film more epic and action oriented. Although there is a brief reference to Castle Raid by Mouse Reepicheep in the book.

  • The code name for this film was "Toastie". This is a reference to the toasted sandwiches which were a favorite snack of the cast and crew during filming of this film and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005).

  • Although the black dwarf who was the witch's right-hand man is not named in the book of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), the producers of that film gave him the name Ginaarbrik, to imply that he is a relative of Nikabrik in this film. Nikabrik's costume includes a ring that was previously worn by Ginaarbrik.

  • Aslan, one of the most prominent characters of Narnia, is absent for almost 95% of the film.

  • The closing credits are twelve minutes long.

  • Work on the script began before The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) was released.

  • Although parts of the film were made in New Zealand like its predecessor, the majority of shooting took place in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Poland because of the larger sets available.

  • Because of tax credits, post-production was based in the UK. Legally, therefore it qualifies as a British film.

  • Although "Prince Caspian" was the second published novel in the series, it is the fourth chronologically.

  • The writers briefly considered combining this with the following novel "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", like the BBC did in their television adaptation.

  • 8 months were spent scouting locations, including Ireland, China and Argentina.

  • Miraz's courtyard is the largest set that production designer Roger Ford had made at that point in his career.

  • The film contains over 1500 special effects shots, more than its predecessor's 800 effects shots.

  • When he was cast, Ben Barnes was set to tour with the Royal National Theatre's production of "The History Boys". Barnes left England without telling the Theatre. They considered suing him for breach of contract but then decided against it.

  • Peter Dinklage's prosthetics took 3 hours to apply. On his first day of filming, he also had to contend with being bitten by sand flies and falling into a river. Producer Mark Johnson joked that they were lucky that Dinklage returned after his first day.

  • Over 100 actors auditioned for the voice of Reepicheep.

  • The role of Aslan is considerably smaller in the film than it is in the book.

  • In hindsight, Andrew Adamson regretted the decision to make this second trip to Narnia bigger and more overblown than the last.

  • C.S. Lewis' stepson Douglas Gresham was co-producer on the film.

  • Eddie Izzard used Errol Flynn as a touchstone for his characterization of Reepicheep.

  • A romantic subplot between Anna Popplewell's character and Ben Barnes' Prince Caspian was in an early draft of the script but was subsequently dropped.

  • Composer Harry Gregson-Williams also provides the voice for Pattertwig the Squirrel.

  • The attack on Miraz's stronghold occupies only a couple of paragraphs in the original novel.

  • One of the downsides of working in a remote location in Slovenia was that everyone had to be checked for ticks on a regular basis. Infestations in the cast and crew's hair were a regular occurrence.

  • The model-making department made approximately 2500 replica pieces of treasure.

  • That's the same stone table featured in this film as in its predecessor where Aslan met his fate. It was flown from New Zealand to the new set at the Barrandov Studios in Prague.

  • The Baruna Bridge location was a strikingly beautiful mountain river in Slovenia. The production were actually allowed to temporarily divert the flow of the river whilst they built the bridge. Once it had been completed the river was rerouted back to its original flow. 100 trees had to be specially planted to tie in with the description of the location in the book.

  • Obtaining permission from the Slovenian authorities about rerouting the river Soca took up about 9 months of negotiating red tape. They were fortunate in that the authorities were already considering re-directing the river following a landslide the year before which had adversely affected its flow.

  • Anna Popplewell had to absent herself from several days filming to complete her school exams.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Trivia items below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • SPOILER: During the storming of Miraz's castle, Reepicheep and the mice find the royal cat asleep. They tie him up in the same way that Aslan was tied in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). The mice gnawed through the ropes that were used to bind Aslan in that story, and according to the books, Aslan granted their people the power of speech in honor of their devotion on that occasion.
