Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Matthew Vaughn had great difficulty in shooting the scenes at the inn to which Lamia entices Yvaine, Tristan and Primus because there were very few occasions on which more than one actor was available on any given day for filming these scenes. Consequently there is a lack of wide shots and tracking shots containing several characters and much use is made of stand-ins in the closer shots to give the impression that all the characters were present. more
Goofs:
Continuity: When Tristan and Yvaine are taken captive by the pirates, the Snowbud Tristan was wearing is missing. A few scenes later, we see Tristan's clothes being thrown out of the flying boat. However, somehow this flower shows back up on Tristan's new clothing later in the film. more
Quotes:
[first lines]
Narrator: A philosopher once asked, "Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?" Pointless, really... ”Do the stars gaze back?" Now *that's* a question.

Great Fantasy Entertainment, 10 August 2007
8/10

Except for an awkward scene, this refreshing fairy tale fantasy has a fun and delightful undercurrent of adult cynical wit that charms its way into the audience as well as a soundtrack that powerfully moves this fairy epic along. Except for one of the Robert DeNiro scenes that doesn't come across smooth and appears out of sync with the tone of the rest of the movie, this luscious romantic fairy tail has a great storytelling feel and the strong magic and the fine balance between serious adventure scenes and the lighter spiritual humor is well done. In the updated tradition of THE PRINCESS BRIDE this contemporary presentation of magic and love is captivating. Eight out of Ten Stars.
