Trivia:
Soldiers Memorial is a World War I museum built during the Depression and so neglected that the elevators don't work. It is situated on Chestnut Street in downtown St. Louis, however, which is low-traffic yet double the width of other downtown streets, which means a movie company can show a rented helicopter landing in the middle of downtown without messing up local traffic too much. moreGoofs:
Audio/visual unsynchronized: A little after the collapse of the Midwestern Quantum Research Laboratory, Gen. Ryker reaches Town Hall. At that time, Director Hayes is watching a news report while having a conversation with his secretary (about 44:10). The female newsreader starts, "Another update; sources at both the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security are now officially describing this dark mass we're seeing just outside the downtown are of St. Louis as a black hole." Hayes' secretary informs him about Gen. Ryker reaching the new command center. At this time, the audio for the news flash finishes and then can be heard starting once again with "Another update; sources at both the..."; an obvious indication of a prerecorded segment that was timed and set to loop while the scene was filmed. moreSoundtrack:

The intent was noble, but this science fiction thriller doesn't quite make the leap into serious, quality science fiction. This B-Movie had the potential and concept to be a very good movie, but it isn't able to discard the typical stereotypes, the underdevelopment of decent character lines, a decent science fiction-based script that shot an alien creature that looked too much like a man jumping around in a suit. However, the under-current, the attempt at an integrity-based movie is retained while the actual product revealed gaps in the delivery. There are too many oh what a dumb move, even the ending is typically American. The deaths of several mid-level characters is accomplished too suddenly. Six out of Ten Stars.
