Who would have thought that a series about crab fishing would ever catch your attention? The combination of the danger, extreme hard work, and the interesting personalities of the crews really draws you in.

This 3-part series follows the dangerous lives of fishermen hunting for Alaskan Crab. You get to see a first-hand account of five boats journeying hundreds of miles from the beautiful Aleutian Islands into the unpredictably treacherous, icy, open waters of the Bering Sea. There they must face freezing temperatures, 50 knot (58 mph / 80 kph) winds, and 40 foot (12.2 m) swells.

These brave men demonstrate unbelievable endurance as they fish non-stop (day and night) on slippery ice-covered decks, always at the mercy of Mother Nature. They have a limited amount of time to make their catch and have to compete with the other boats in the fleet with the hope of striking it rich in what some call America's last great Gold Rush.

This is a lesser-known series that came out before the very popular 10-part "Deadliest Catch" series. Its focus is more on the processes involved, and is presented from a different perspective than the other series. This has the potential to appeal to a broad audience - whether the taste is for action, adventure, drama, documentary, or reality.
