This is the TV series equivalent of a chick flick. A constant succession of Major Drama Queen Moments. Chock full of soap opera-y stuff that women seem to like for whatever reason they do, but completely bore the crap out of me.
The humans are socially dysfunctional. The machine people are socially dysfunctional. Everyone and everything is socially dysfunctional. Which might lend itself to lots of Dramatic Impact, but to me, is just plain annoying.
The original series was kind of vaguely entertaining in a pretty-stupid sort of way, but this remake is just plain awful. As a guy, i find it completely unwatchable.
What's with the really cruddy film quality? Was the budget so low that the only film stock that could be afforded was the grade z-minus stock? And the scene lighting... well, don't get me started ranting on the scene lighting... It's an absolutely unforgivable sin for bad scene lighting when lighting rigs are so easily available.
I don't care at all for chick flick movies or chick flick TV series. Just not my cup of tea. But, even so, i think ladies really should up their standards as to the quality of sci-fi they like to enjoy.
