Ryan Reynolds wants 'The Green Lantern' to take inspiration from 'Iron Man'. The actor says the forthcoming movie looks into why his character Hal Jordan becomes a superhero and says he hopes producers show off the characters roots as well as 'Iron Man' told the story of inventor Tony Stark. He said: ''I think you walk away from this first film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike 'Iron Man,' are the moments where the guy's not in the suit. ''That to me is the tough thing to get right. And that's something that .. »

You know I'm insecure about my geek bonafides. But people who know everything about superheroes are emailing me that the first image of the War Machine suit can now be seen behind the updated Mark IV Iron Man armor on the new Iron Man 2 poster unveiled this week for the May 7th sequel. (For more about the movie, see Deadline Hollywood's Comic-Con coverage here.) »

Paramount Pictures has just released several new pictures from Robert Downey Jr.-starring film "Iron Man 2". After releasing a poster which gives the first look at War Machine, the studio has shared four stills which feature some previously-exposed characters, like Tony Stark, Black Widow, and Ivan Vanko.
In one image, master engineer Stark is seen working with an electronic stuff. In another picture, he is exposed with his robotic buddy. Meanwhile, one particular photo shows Black Widow, the alter ego of Natasha Romanoff, in her tight costume. The last still additionally features Vanko standing in front of a wall which is full of clippings.
Tony Stark, Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff, and Ivan Vanko/Whiplash will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Mickey Rourke respectively. Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L. Jackson will reprise their roles as Pepper Potts and Nick Fury in this "Iron Man" sequel. »

Ryan Reynolds has promised his upcoming comic book adaptation Green Lantern will explore the character beyond the superhero costume but won't dwell on the origin story.
The actor plays test pilot Hal Jordan who is chosen to wield a super-powered ring when its previous owner, a dying alien called Abin Sur, crashes on Earth. The ring seeks someone "utterly honest and born without fear" to be the next bearer.
Ryan says he wants the film to have the same feel as Iron Man, in which Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark was strongly characterised before he stepped into the hi-tech armour.
Reynolds said: "I think you [will] walk away from this first [Green Lantern] film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike Iron Man, are the moments where the guy's not in the suit.
"That to me is the tough thing to get right. »

I saw some new photos for Iron Man 2 over at Movieweb and I have to say I like what I see but unfortunately they are images straight from the footage we saw at Comic-Con. The other day we saw a poster from the new film which actually showed us War Machine, which I am excited about his presence in the film. I being reserved about this movie only because I do not want it to be the same movie as the first one, I am also not to keen on Mickey Rourke but I guess I am in the minority for that.

An Endless source of debate, controversy and criticism is the way in which comic books are adapted into other media, such as movies.
More often than not, changes are made to simplify complex, tangled stories that have unfolded over many decades in the comics. Fans have often criticised studios over these modifications but, in my view, it's a case of whether characters are still recognisable and whether alterations work on screen.
The hope among superhero enthusiasts has been that Marvel would produce more faithful adaptations because it also publishes the comics on which the films are based.
But even Marvel makes changes. And the next Iron Man movie, due out in May 2010, is an example with its new version of Whiplash, a villain played by Mickey Rourke.
Iron Man's comics first featured a character called Whiplash back in 1968. He worked for criminal organisation the Maggia and his alias was Mark Scarliotti. »

The summer of 2008 was a great season for blockbusters, not only because the films were a financial success, but many of them also earned favor from both fans and critics alike. Unlike this past summer, during which audiences had to suffer through the works of Michael Bay and Stephen Sommers, films like Iron Man were not only fun and crowd-pleasing but also contained a well told stories and enjoyable dialogue that didn't make you cringe. So what if I were to tell you that Iron Man had no script? Prepare to have your mind blown. In Contention recently conducted an interview with Jeff Bridges, discussing the upcoming Crazy Heart, but when the topic turned to last summer's early hit, Bridges let the following bomb drop: .They had no script, man... They had an outline. We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn.t know what we »

Get ready to pack on a whole bunch of awesome as the first poster for Iron Man 2 has officially arrived online. Just yesterday we brought you that not-so-enticing image of a toy version of Don Cheadle's War Machine costume, but now Paramount has given us a taste of the real deal. The poster clearly shows a back-to-back shot of Iron Man and War Machine all ready to kick some serious butt. There's no official title except for the number 2 and the release date of May 7th. In addition to this poster, Paramount has also released four new images from the film – two of which feature Mickey Rourke's Whiplash character (out of his suit, unfortunately) and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow character (doing some funky leg extension thing). The other two feature our main man Tony Stark...

Along with the new poster that we put up last night, Paramount have released some new high resolution images to accompany it via ComingSoon.net. The one of Scarlett Johansson we’ve seen before but to my knowledge it was always a thumbnail size. Nice to see it blown up to a decent viewable image . Click them below to enlarge or visit the gallery on ComingSoon.net to view in super hi-res.
The other images show Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr. playing with their techie gadgets + 1 of Downey Jr. finding what looks like a safe buried beneath his stone floor! I’m sure some Iron Man die hard fans can tell me exactly what they’re playing with but I’ll let you do that in the comments below!

Before the credit crisis and the deal with Disney, United Arab Emirate-based Al Ahli Group and Marvel Entertainment announced a deal to bring many of Marvel’s biggest characters to Dubai for a brand new theme park that would focus on the world famous characters. The plan was for character themed rides based on The Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men, Silver Surfer, and Spider-Man. While I have no idea if the deal with Disney has changed the deal, or if Dubai’s financial troubles will derail the park, I do know what it might look like! That’s because concept art has hit the net and you can check out some great looking images after the jump. With rides like “Flying with Spidey”, “Fantasticar” and “X-Men: Danger Room”, Marvel fanboys might be flying across the world to check this place out!
A big thank you to Disneyandmore (via Cinematical) for posting these images. »

Two years ago the Al Ahli Group announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment that would see to fruition a massive, cutting-edge amusement park to be built in Dubai and feature rides and exhibits tailor themed to the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, and all the rest of Marvel's impressive stable of superheroes (and villains). Obviously a lot has changed since then. First, Disney purchased Marvel outright, and though there was plenty examination of what that meant for future Marvel film franchises and existing properties, I don't recall any talk of this new theme park being bandied about. Second, and more recently, the financial crisis world wide has taken a particularly heavy toll on the rather lofty model Dubai had based its construction-heavy economy on, halting many planned projects.
Considering those two bits of news, chances aren't looking too good that the Marvel park will ever be a reality, »

In preparation for tonight's second-to-last episode of this season of The Biggest Loser, I dug into my DVR and watched last Wednesday's Thanksgiving special The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now? In some ways, the special had the smug and self-congratulatory feel of a televisual victory lap. Dr. Huizenga stopped by for some lofty moralizing about how The Biggest Loser was saving America. Jillian totally ruined a Michigan State tailgate by pointing out that everything about tailgating is unhealthy. Bob hugged people. Curtis Stone (who?) cooked a healthy meal. A hard-hitting expose this wasn't. (If you're interested, this was. »

War Machine made his grand debut this week in the first official "Iron Man 2" poster, standing side-by-side with leading man and best buddy Tony Stark. But most comic book and movie enthusiasts are too busy gushing over the reveal of James "Rhodey" Rhodes in his highly militarized armor to realize a fundamental truth — this poster has been seen before.
Alright, this exact poster is completely new to the world, but the positioning of Iron Man and War Machine — two compatriots, positioned one in front of the other, ready to face the world as a team — is a standard pose when it comes to Hollywood posters.
Don't believe me? Check out these six movie posters that follow a similar formula to the latest "Iron Man 2" poster for further proof.

Hot on the heels of the new poster and those comments from Jeff Bridges about the first Iron Man, Paramount has dropped four new images from Iron Man 2. (I didn't intend to do two Iron Man posts in a row, I swear.) These aren't earth-shaking; we see only Mickey Rourke's appearance from early in the film and the photo of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow basically repeats what we saw of her in previous photos and the Comic Con footage. But since most of you haven't seen the Comic Con footage, that's not a bad thing. All the images after the break. With these and the poster, you'd figure we'll see a teaser or full trailer very soon. Hopefully before Sherlock Holmes when it hits, which Jon Favreau has mentioned as a possibility. That'll be a good little Christmas gift for the fans. Here are the pics: »

On the heels of the first Iron Man 2 poster come a few official stills straight from Paramount. Everyone looks very serious. Whiplash is seriously working on something, surrounded by pictures of Tony Stark to keep his hate burning and his ethic cheerful. Black Widow is seriously up to no good, even if she looks slinky doing it. Even Tony isn't taking things lightly -- not the destruction to his house, and not whatever he's brewing in his latest science project.
There's nothing really new on display here -- the Black Widow photo has been around in varying degrees of resolution since before San Diego Comic Con -- but it's just nice to see the characters out and about, isn't it? If you're given to intense plot speculation, you can all give your take on just what Tony and Whiplash have brewing, and just who caused Tony's marble floor to shatter into a dozen pieces. »

Here it is kids, the first poster for Iron Man 2, showing Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) alter-ego Iron Man next to Rhodey all suited-up as War Machine. No official premise just yet, but so far Lord Favreau has said that the film picks up six months after the events of Iron Man and will explore Tony Stark's alcoholism, but not the Demon in a Bottle version from the comics. What we do know is that Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau (also directing), Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Mara, Garry Shandling, John Slattery and Clark Gregg are all sharing the screen for what is expected to be a record breaking release date on May 7th 2010. Enjoy the first poster for Iron Man 2 below: »

Can't you just hear the headline quote above intoned in The Dude's spacey tones? You may have heard about the fact that Iron Man came together more or less without a solid script, but according to Jeff Bridges it was definitely 'less.' Read his take on the shoot, which essentially sounds like the actors and Jon Favreau improvised big segments of the movie, after the break. In Contention has a long, fantastic interview with Bridges that both highlights his current work in Crazy Heart and acts as a serious career overview. The most attention-getting stuff in there relates to Iron Man, however. How so? Check it: “They had no script, man! They had an outline," says Bridges. "We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn’t know what we were going to say." In Contention's Kris Tapley summarizes some of the actor's description of the process: Bridges, »

The new poster for Iron Man 2 (launched on Yahoo Movies) prominently features War Machine, Iron Man's partner-in-Armor. This has me incredibly excited. I love War Machine. Because of an accident of timing, I've always thought of War Machine as the original armored hero. Iron Man is just a pale, more colorful imitation. Let me explain. I grew up during a bizarro-world phase of comic book history when practically every major iconic character was being killed or otherwise eliminated to make way for a newer model, usually with some kind of chic mecha-costume add-on that would look great on an action figure. »

From Splash Page: It's been a big day for new images on the 'Net, but the biggest thus far just arrived online. Not only is the first official "Iron Man 2" poster now available online, but the image also gives us the first official look at War Machine!
The new poster debuted exclusively at Yahoo Movies, and features both the familiar (though slightly upgraded) Iron Man armor, as well as the War Machine armor destined to be worn by Don Cheadle's character, James "Rhodey" Rhodes. It also offers the simple tagline "2" instead of the film's full title.
For those who weren't able to attend this year's "Iron Man 2" panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, this is the first official look at War Machine — and fans will be happy to note how similar it looks to its comic book counterpart (even down to the shoulder-mounted weaponry).
