Trivia:
When Princess Mia is introduced at the ball, Allan Kent's character catches her ring and says, "It happens all the time." Kent also appears in The Princess Diaries (2001) where he says the same thing when Mia breaks her glass, and in Pretty Woman (1990) where he says it as he catches the escargot that escapes from Viv's plate. moreGoofs:
Continuity: In the scenes where Mia is reviewing the troops, there is a shot where Lily and Nicholas introduce themselves across Andrew ("Best friend of the queen-to-be. I don't like you.") In a later, related scene, Nicholas has followed Mia to the tack room. His necktie changes between the two shots. The director says (in the special features part of the DVD) that this was actually a shot taken from another scene: the pear tree scene (which is in the deleted scenes), and put into this scene instead. moreSoundtrack:

The thing that disappointed me about this movie was the title. I have read most of the Princess Diaries books and I really like them. So the fact that the movie is called the same thing is annoying since it has absolutely nothing to do with the books. If you have read the books and want to see the movie just go in knowing that there is no relation between the two whatsoever. They are two completely different things. Once you know and accept this, you can enjoy the movie. It is pretty nice, with good acting. There is also a scene where we listen to Julie Andrews singing again! It is definitely a cute movie to watch and enjoy with the family!
