Plot:

In Venice Beach, naive Midwesterner JB bonds with local slacker KG and they form the rock band Tenacious D. Setting out to become the world's greatest band is no easy feat, so they set out to steal what could be the answer to their prayers -- a magical guitar pick housed in a rock-and-roll museum some 300 miles away.

Trivia:

There are two references to other songs "Sasquatch" and "Tribute". Jack mentions in search of Sasquatch as being on TV. when in KG's home and on of the first lines of Sasquatch is "In search of Sasquatch - That was a kick ass In search of...” Tribute is referenced at the end when JB and KG can't remember the song they just sang, hence writing "Tribute" to tribute the song.

Goofs:

Continuity: In the "mushroom" scene, JB is in water rapids, but at the end of the scene he is not wet.

Tenacious D are the ultimate in acquired taste. To their critics, they're two idiots who write deeply stupid songs and perform them badly. To their fans, they're the greatest comedy band since Spinal Tap (maybe we do get carried away sometimes...)-This film will delight the converted and disgust the heathens, It's arguably the weirdest, and funniest music video ever made, The tone is set in an opening sequence in which every line is hilariously sung in the style of oh-so-many Heavy Metal bands, gleeful irreverence in every lyric, From there on it just gets weirder and more wonderful, from dream sequences involving Yetis to a speech proudly exclaiming the virtues of Satan, nothing is too out-there, With some brilliant history.-mocking animation inserts that rival the Pythons (A lute is seen to play an electric guitar solo) and a delightful sense of the cod-mythology of rock (involving some very funny cameos) .This movie is the greatest spoof of Metal since This is Spinal Tap, Whilst never always in that class, The Pick of Destiny resists temptation to fully mock rock. This is a film parodying metal made by rock obsessives which means this is as much tribute as mockery. For fans, it's bliss.For haters, it's stupid and offensive.In truth it's an bit of both-8/10
