The WB Tries To Make A Comeback

16 August 2008 8:32 PM, PDT | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

Yeah, I did say The WB.

Some of you have repeatedly said in commentary or email communications with me that you’re tired of network TV and it just doesn’t appeal to you.  I don’t blame you.

As of August 27th, The WB is trying to give you more options beside advertiser controlled TV.

TheWB.com website is officially launching on the 27th of August.  From the offered line up of web-casts, The WB is looking like it’s hoping to snag the viewers who used to watch The WB network on TV before it got absorbed into The CW because some of the offerings are old familiar, popular shows.

So I went over to the TheWB.com Beta site to check it out.  The Beta wants me to sign up before accessing anything.  I usually don’t like signing up before looking, but for you guys, I dove right in.

Broken Social Scene Presents Brendan Canning

28 July 2008 9:05 PM, PDT | From avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news

Like Kevin Drew's kinda-solo effort from last year, Spirit If., Brendan Canning's new Something For All Of Us is simultaneously a Broken Social Scene collaboration and a personal retreat. The ambience is allowed to swim alongside the hooks and drift away at will. Canning doesn't seem very interested in smashing those elements together the way Bss did on its self-titled 2005 album and 2002's You Forgot It In People. On "Love Is New" and "Hit The Wall," even the international party-time signal of a throbbing bass becomes another trail into introverted static. Canning's layers don't spill all over each other or lock together, they swirl about with uneven density. Sometimes a horn part or breathy vocal pops right out, and sometimes it only comes to attention after half a dozen listens. Except for "Churches Under The Stairs," which harnesses Bss' pop heroics in a pleasant way, Something For...

Adele Plans The 'Best Girl Band Ever'

8 March 2008 6:41 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Soul newcomer Adele wants to form a pop supergroup - with her former schoolmates Amy Winehouse, Katie Melua, Lily Allen and Kate Nash.

The 19-year-old Brit is convinced the quintet, who are all graduates of the U.K.'s Brit school for performing arts - could conquer the music industry as one.

She says, "Amy, Katie, Lily, Kate and me all come from the same school. If we were in a band I think it would be the best band ever.

"We're not afraid to speak out minds. I think everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it is good or horrible."

And the singer insists the all-girl group would win over a multitude of female fans because real women could relate to them: "All of us represent most women in the world.

You don't need to be a doll with tanned legs, blonde hair, big boobs and good lips. I really don't think you have to be like that any more."

Mel C: `Spice Girls Split As Best Friends With A Special Bond'

6 March 2008 9:32 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Spice Girls star Melanie Chisholm has laughed off ongoing reports the members of the pop supergroup have all fallen out, insisting the quintet are closer than ever.

Sporty Spice claims the group tried to complete their recent reunion tour as planned, but motherhood and other commitments got in the way and led to the reformed Wannabe stars ending the trek prematurely.

But she insists it had nothing to do with a rumoured band feud.

In a new RollingStone.com interview, Mel C says, "All of us have really enjoyed getting closer again.

"The whole atmosphere on the tour (was) very fun and there hasn't been time for any bickering or the fighting that's always reported about the Spice Girls.

"It's just like a big family. There's been more laughing than anything else."

And, thanks to the reunion, which began last year and continued into 2008, Mel C insists the Spice Girls will always have a special bond: "We've been through something so unique

together that even if we don't see each other for a few months, we get together and it's been like no time has passed at all."

And, though she rules out any future recording plans with her old bandmates, the British singer can't help thinking that there could be more Spice Girls live dates.

She adds, "If you had asked me maybe six months ago, if the Spice Girls would ever tour again, I probably would've said no.

"So I think it's quite dangerous to say defiantly yes or no. You never know what the future holds."
