Well we finally got Deadwood over here, and two episodes in I can safely say this is probably the best US show in years. I have to admit that there was a little apprehension at first - the advertising campaign seemed to focus mainly on Ian McShane. McShane is probably best know over here for his antique dealer/detective series in the 80's "Lovejoy" as well as many other mainstream TV appearances so not much was expected of the guy. Then you sit down and watch him in Deadwood and you and start recalling that this is the role you always thought he was capable of when watching "Villain" or "Sexy Beast". Its the best performance I've seen in a US TV show since Peter Boyle appeared in X-Files.
Not just great for McShane though (although he is the major revelation). The whole cast is perfect (especially Olyphant and Dourif), the script and storyline is great and it it looks amazing.
Like I said, only two episodes in, and I can ell we're in for something special
