An Endless source of debate, controversy and criticism is the way in which comic books are adapted into other media, such as movies.
More often than not, changes are made to simplify complex, tangled stories that have unfolded over many decades in the comics. Fans have often criticised studios over these modifications but, in my view, it's a case of whether characters are still recognisable and whether alterations work on screen.
The hope among superhero enthusiasts has been that Marvel would produce more faithful adaptations because it also publishes the comics on which the films are based.
But even Marvel makes changes. And the next Iron Man movie, due out in May 2010, is an example with its new version of Whiplash, a villain played by Mickey Rourke.
Iron Man's comics have featured another Whiplash, introduced back in 1968. He worked for criminal organisation the Maggia and his alias was Mark Scarliotti. »

Dancing with the Stars' final performance show Monday night also produced its best ratings for the season. The 90-minute telecast averaged 20.49 million viewers, peaking in the final half-hour at 9:00 p.m. with 21.93 million. Tonight's results show is likely to draw even greater numbers, particularly given the fact that Donny Osmond, who is favored to win, has always managed to attract viewers. CBS took over first place at 9:30 p.m. with The Big Bang Theory, which continues to improve in the ratings (and, critics say, in the quality of its scripts). Monday's episode drew $14.22 million viewers. It was followed by CSI: Miami, which recorded 13.18 million viewers.

How did Tao Ruspoli land Olivia Wilde, best known as Thirteen on House, for his debut feature film? Easy, they’re married. Ruspoli is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who stays close to reality with his first fictional project – the story is inspired by his brother’s struggle with drug addiction. Wilde and Ruspoli play a documentary filmmaking couple who must race across Los Angeles to get his brother Leo into a rehab program by 8 pm, or else the brother faces three years of jail. Shawn Andrews (Dazed and Confused) plays Leo, and Megalyn Echikunwoke (CSI: Miami, 24) also co-stars. Ruspoli said »

NBC's Sunday Night Football franchise—which saw New England take on Indianapolis this past weekend—was on the top of the weekly ratings chart for the broadcast networks for the week ending Nov. 15, drawing 22.4 million viewers to watch the pigskin showdown. But the overall winner on the Top 20? Without question: CBS, which served up 12 of the shows in the Top 20. The No. 2 spot went to the high-performing network, as TV's top scripted show, NCIS, drew 21.0 million viewers. ABC's Dancing with the Stars was still strong, though, and landed at No. 3, with a still-distant-from-ncis 17.6 million viewers. The rest of the Top 20, however, »

Television sweeps are the best; the writers save up all the juicy storylines and make them explode during the pivotal time for networks. Sweeps Week is so important because the data that is collected by the Nielsen Rating is used by networks to set advertising costs based on their results. Because of this, many networks pull out all the stops and this year is absolutely no different. Many of the sweeps episodes have aired and later this week we will see what else the networks have in store for us, but we want to know what you think so far! CSI Trilogy: CBS took three of their most popular shows and brought fans a multiple night CSI event spanning CSI: Miami (TV), CSI: NY (TV) and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (TV). The teams from each city work together to help bring down one of the largest prostitute rings and by »

Want the I'm A Celeb experience – only without the actual "celebs"? These shows more than fit the bill. And don't feature Katie Price
This might come as a bit of a shock to some – especially the people who've filled an alarming proportion of today's newspapers with near-naked photos of the How Clean Is Your House lady – but not everyone likes I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
And, at this time of year, not being an I'm A Celebrity fan can be pretty lonely. You want to join in with the water cooler conversations about the amount of spiders that Sam Fox can fit into her mouth and other opening-night highlights – but you don't actually want to waste your life by physically tuning in.
But all is not lost. If you can't face watching the full I'm A Celebrity onslaught this week but want to experience the elements that »

Brandi Glanville wants things done a certain way from here on out. Saying she quit working at Eddie Cibrian's request back when they were dating, the stay-at-home mom is demanding full financial support from her future ex-husband, whom she says is making $60,000 a week for his gig on CSI: Miami. In a court filing obtained by E! News, the former model estimates her monthly expenses to be in the ballpark of $49,000, which includes household bills, groceries, child care, $3,000 for clothes... You know, the usual. Glanville states that, since Cibrian moved out, he has paid for all the bills that are in his name, but has neglected to give his estranged wife money for groceries and other day-to-day... »

If you're among the millions of viewers who haven't followed Ugly Betty to its deleterious new Friday timeslot, here's what you've been missing: the show's most consistently entertaining season since its transcendent first. As I mentioned in this week's Ask Ausiello, the fourth-year comedy is, Imho, enjoying a helluva creative resurgence. For proof, look not further than tonight's exceptionally funny, moving, gutsy outing. If there were any doubts that Betty has a lot of life left in her — I'm talking to you, Ken Tucker — this eppy should obliterate them. Now then, time to step off my soap box and board the spoiler train. »

There's reason to be hopeful about All My Children's move to Hollywood. Oh, yes, Thorsten Kaye has decided not to go -- bye, bye Zach -- but there's a list of stars lining up for the anniversary that's pretty spectacular.
In honor of All My Children's 40th Anniversary, Julia Barr is coming back as Brooke English. Also slated to appear are a bunch of other former AMC stars, including Eva Larue, Taylor Miller, Laurence Lau, Eden Riegel, Leven Rambin and the previously announced Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.
Julia's return is a big get because she was such big part of the soap for so long. The two-time Emmy winner was on AMC from 1976 to her exit in 2006. This anniversary show will be a chance for fans to hear what Brooke -- Erica's rival for all those years -- has been up to.
Next in line is Eva Larue. »

The CSI crossover going on this week may involve one story split across three shows, but in reality it's really three different crimes with one common thread. I thought it was the former after watching CSI: Miami Monday night, with the cliffhanger of sorts about a woman leaving a written plea for help inside a truck stop's restroom. I tune in to CSI: NY last night and realize that we won't see much of a connection between what we saw before and what we're seeing now.
Sure, there's Madeline Briggs. Pegged in part one of the crossover as a suspect in the murder of a model wannabe, she has become the victim--the person Mac and the team must save as quickly as possible, before she dies of the grim circumstances she got herself in: possibly prostitution, possibly organ farm. Maybe it's just me and my expectations of the crossover, but »
