‘Friday the 13th’ killer joins ‘Predators’

20 October 2009 9:45 AM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Friday the 13th killer Derek Mears is used to murdering people as Jason Voorhes. Now he may do some good ‘ol’ fashioned killin’ on the predators home-world in the upcoming sci-fi feature Predators.

Director Nimrod Antal has added Mears to the cast of, let’s be honest, a group that was originally less than thrilling when it was announced. Robert Rodriguez, who is producing the film, revealed that Adrien Brody, Topher Grace and Machete star Danny Trejo are the film’s first cast members. It’s not known whether Mears will be playing one of the humans that wind up on the alien world to be hunted or if he will be playing a predator.

“People were talking for a couple of weeks, but I wasn’t able to confirm,” Mears told Dread Central. “I kept assuring the filmmakers that I was not the leak. Now it’s out there, »

Famous action star Adrien Brody enlists in ‘Predators’

7 October 2009 8:25 AM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

In the odder side of movie news, Adrien Brody (The Pianist) has signed on to Nimrod Antal’s Predators for 20th Century Fox. The Oscar-winning actor will join Danny Trejo (Machete), Topher Grace, Alice Braga, made-up actor Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Oleg Taktarov for the reboot of the famed ’80s action-sci-fi feature.

“When I looked at the news from The Hollywood Reporter, I just couldn’t believe my eyes. I’m a huge Adrien Brody fan. I simply adored him in The Brothers Bloom,” said Jon Mintez of the Predator Spectators Society (Psc). “In fact, if I didn’t start a Predators club, I would start a Brody club. I wish I could suckle his nostrils.” After the call I learned that the Psc had nothing to do with the line of Predator action films…

Predators will begin shooting in November in lush forests of Hawaii and at Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Texas. »

Spike Still Delivers

27 June 2009 11:25 PM, PDT | NYPost.com | See recent New York Post news »

On Christmas Day, 1987, 30-year-old Brooklyn-based filmmaker Spike Lee started working on the script for his third feature, "Do the Right Thing." The film would examine the racial tension that enveloped New York City at the time, most of which was due to an incident that occurred in the predominantly white section of Howard Beach in Queens a year earlier: A group of white youths attacked three black men outside a pizza place for simply being the wrong color in the wrong neighborhood. One of the black men, 23-year-old Michael Griffith, was chased onto the Belt Parkway, »

Here at Boxwish, we would like to join the millions and millions of people across the world in expressing our sadness at the passing of Michael Jackson at the age of 50. The King of Pop, as he was so aptly christened by long-time friend Elizabeth Taylor, contributed so much to the world of music providing us with a cherished legacy of songs that will live long in our hearts and on our iPods. However, rather than repeat the many tributes paid to the star by his friends, family and fellow celebrities or to rake over his many years in the spotlight, we’re honouring Mj with a Boxwish-style celebration that remembers his best movie moments.

Best starring role

Taking the music video from afterthought to true art form, Michael Jackson worked with many of Hollywood’s top directors such as Spike Lee (“They Don’t Care About Us”), John Singleton »

Tim McGraw to Be Sandra Bullock's Husband in 'The Blind Side'

15 April 2009 11:44 PM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Country singer Tim McGraw once again will test his acting skill in a feature film as he is tapped to star in "The Blind Side". The 41-year-old, who has shared screen with Reese Witherspoon in "Four Christmases", is set to star opposite Sandra Bullock, playing her on-screen husband by the name of Sean Touhy.

In addition to sharing scene with Bullock, the husband of country songstress Faith Hill will also be joined by Kathy Bates in the movie. He is expected to take part in the film's production when the principal photography begins later this month in Atlanta.

"The Blind Side" is based on Michael Lewis' best-selling book, "The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game". Inspired by the true story of Michael Oher, it follows a homeless African-American teenager who befriends a wealthy family and grows up to be an offensive lineman for the Ole Miss football team. Movies That Deserve a Second Life: Comedy Edition

5 April 2009 10:00 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Welcome to another edition of Movies That Deserve a Second Life. If you need a refresher on what I’m referring to by “second life,” check out the Action/Adventure Edition. If you’re caught up, read on to see what funny flics I felt were unfairly ignored/disliked upon its release or have been forgotten in the years since its release.

Comedy is almost certainly the most subjective of all genres. What makes one person laugh is guaranteed to make another yawn or wrinkle his/her brow. Some find juvenilia in poor taste while others bust a gut. Everyone claims to have a sense of humor, but almost no one enjoys every type of humor there is, from dry wit and pungent satire to bodily fluid gags and intentionally groan-worthy puns. Therefore, I think it’s safe to say that no one (besides myself) will be satisfied with every choice. »
