The incredibly popular soap-opera that breathed new life into Erik Estrada's dead career had two women fighting for Erik's love. This soap opera lasted about six months (it seemed). I am not sure if they put the highlights on DVD, but like most Spanish Soap Operas it was incredibly repetitive from episode-to-episode, and it got dragged on for months (five episodes per week) because all of the actors kept changing their minds.
Erik Estrada's character was married to Laura Leon's character. Now in 1993, Ms. Leon was at least fifty years old and had a horse-face to match her mullet haircut. Add to that her tendency to shake her mane and thrust her head up like a horse and she really looked like she could gallup off the set. The fact that she was easily about thirty pounds overweight just made the story funnier.
Erik played a truck driver, and at a truck stop he meets this incredibly gorgeous hottie (played by Biby Gaytan) who is about sixteen years old (in real life she was 23 but she looked 16). Erik immediately loses his wedding ring and starts to tip her very well when she serves him his meals. Before long, Erik is paying a friend of his to drive his truck route just so that Erik can hang around his teenage hottie. Being as she is living in the Mexican backwoods, and the other truckers are pretty gross looking, she eventually starts to get the hots for Erik Estrada. Estrada easily looks 45 (in 1993) and has a tiny bit of a beer gut himself. But Erik has ideas, and he talks Biby into taking a trip with him, and before long Erik is proposing marriage, except he is already married and has a couple of kids who are wondering why they never see their Daddy anymore.
His teenage Hottie also happens to be the daughter of some local Mexican Mobster. When Pa Mobster discovers that some dirty old married man is seducing his teenage daughter, several of Erik's friends get beaten up and bullets fly. The story has a never-ending series of twists and turns, and Erik is a real hound because not only does he want to keep the young girl forever, but he wants to keep getting his home-cooking too.
Needless to say they all find out what is going on, more twists and turns, more people get beaten up, someone dies, Erik gets nobody, but then he does, and at some point he gets them both back before the ending where someone else dies, and Erik finds out the price of being an unfaithful hound-dog. This series was great only because Biby Gayton was usually prancing around in the tightest shorts, smallest skirts, and most-cleavage-revealing outfits. But you had to feel sorry for the little kids who would cry for their Dad during every episode. Every heart-string got tugged to the max here.
