Trivia:
In one of the earlier drafts of the script, it included various things from the original film. For example, Memphis puts on a disguise that makes him look like an old man when he goes to steal Eleanor (the same way the lead character in the original did). Also, the reason why Sphinx was called Sphinx was because he originally was written to have no nose (similar to the famous structure in Egpyt), and that he had a pair of glasses that added on a fake nose that he wore only during the overnight boost. moreGoofs:
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Memphis confronts Calitri after being rescued by Kip and Atley, he chases him into his office, where Calitri retrieves a gun from his desk drawer. The gun appears to be a compact 9mm, or .380 semi-auto. You can hear the sound of the slide being racked to load the first round, but Calitri pulls the gun out, and fires in one motion. He never racks the slide. moreQuotes:
Police chopper pilot: [after Memphis got away from the helicopter driving Eleanor] He's gone.Det. Roland Castlebeck: GOD!
Drycoff: Man this guy can drive!
Det. Roland Castlebeck: What? WHAT?
Drycoff: It's probably mostly the car...

This movie has taken a lot of stick. It was slated by critics when it came out and was blamed for wrecking Nicolas Cage's career. The thing I don't think people get is that it's not meant to be an epic, Oscar contender of a movie, it's just some brilliant "Bruck-buster" action at its best. Fast cars, quick editing and a great soundtrack - it does exactly what it says on the tin. Also, for anyone who likes cars its a pure treat. It has everything: Ferraris, Mercs, a Hummer and lets not forget Eleanor! I think you'd be hard pushed to find a better action movie, and personally, a better movie at all!! Then again maybe that's just me!
