Tantalizing promos that tease a possible sexual threesome during the Nov. 9 episode of Gossip Girl may have ticked off the Parents Television Council but it seems unlikely the CW will give the advocacy group anything to complain about to the FCC. Though the CW wouldn't comment on next week's episode, those familiar with the network's standards and practices procedures say the infamous Without a Trace teen orgy scene on CBS had a big impact on how the CW depicts sexual intercourse between teen characters, especially on Gossip Girl. In 2006, the FCC fined 111 CBS affiliates a record $3.6 million for airing what »

We here at The Flickcast are fans of just about all films, but some of us around the office still get tickled when we hear the titular line in a film thrown out. Many comedy series have spoofed this concept, such as Upright Citizens Brigade with “I’m sick of all these Star Wars!” or Family Guy with “That’s why they call me Superman 4: The Quest For Peace” but nobody has ever gone to the length’s of this week’s Fan Film Friday Creator.
The cool cats over at VideoGum put together a pretty impressive compilation of just about every film that uses the title in dialogue. From Fried Green Tomatoes to Minority Report, this compilation has it all. It makes you wonder if the writers are being clever with that line, or actually really lazy.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Volume 2 is definitely a blast from my past. I grew up watching reruns of these shows when they aired on the Cartoon Network at my grandmother’s house. I remember thinking that they were so funny and such great entertainment. These thoughts must have been caused by the thrill of watching cable, which we didn’t have at home, because this time around I was not at all impressed.
Perhaps my sense of humor has gotten more complex over the years. At least, that’s what I like to tell myself. Surely there is no way that I enjoyed the hijinks and mayhem of Shazzan, with the flying camel Kaboobie and the all-powerful genie that couldn’t get Chuck and Nancy home. The over the top antics of the Hair Bear Bunch, who converted their cave to more fancy digs with a touch of the wall, »

Producer Barrie Osborne might be asking for trouble with this one. As anyone who watches Family Guy knows, visual depictions of the prophet Muhammad, the founder of the religion of Islam, are prohibited. This isn't explicitly stated in the Qur'an, there are a few traditions of Islam that forbid him from being depicted in a manner other than oral or written descriptions. Despite all of this, Osborne, who produced both The Matrix and the Lord of the Rings trilogies, is setting off on a quest to bring the story of Muhammad to the big screen. Budgeted at around $150m , the film will chart Muhammad's life and examine his teachings. Osborne told Reuters (via Guardian UK) that he envisages it as "an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam." Osborne's production will reportedly feature English-speaking Muslim actors, and is backed by the Qatar-based production company Alnoor Holdings »

Far-gone are the days when networks held enough power and importance to have TV crossovers and intermixing story lines, much like the days when George Reeves would pop up on I Love Lucy or story lines interweave between Buffy and Angel. Fox seems to be the only network with interest in doing such stunts, as Family Guy’s Stewie popped up on an episode of Bones.
Well, it looks like Fox is doing it once again with an announcement for a Simpsons on-air scavenger hunt in celebrating 20 years of broadcasting TV’s favorite animated family. In a press release, the network announces that it will start on November 9th, and go for an entire week.
Fox is paying “homage” to 20 years of television’s favorite yellow family with the network’s first-ever on-air scavenger hunt. Beginning Monday, Nov. 9 and continuing through Friday, Nov. 13, fans can watch Fox each night to find Simpsons shout-outs, »

Listen up all you disgruntled Southland fans, TNT is your new favorite network. The acclaimed police drama has risen from the ashes of cancellation and will be returning to television on a new network:
“TNT has picked up the critically acclaimed series “Southland,” closing a deal with Warner Bros. Television that will bring the drama from Emmy-winning producer John Wells (”ER,” “The West Wing”) to the network in January.
TNT has obtained exclusive rights to air all six episodes that have been shot for the second season, as well as the seven episodes from the series’ first season. “Southland” will air on TNT Tuesdays at 10 p.m. (Et/Pt), beginning with the first episode of the series on Jan. 12.”
This is great news for the series especially given the somewhat surprising cancellation by NBC before the show even returned for a second season. Honestly, they brought back Heroes but not Southland? »

Microsoft may have found the upcoming Family Guy special too controversial for it to go ahead with announced plans to be the sole sponsor of the show. But Fox announced over the weekend that a rival movie studio is all too happy to take over the sponsorship. Warner Bros, it said, will use the special, set to air next Sunday, to promote its upcoming comedy/whodunit Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law and directed by Guy Ritchie. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday that a sequence in the special in which two characters voiced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarland and voice actress Alex Borstein talk about teen star Miley Cyrus and her relationship with her father "is not expected to make the final cut."

It looks like the Family Guy special which was suppose to promote Windows 7 has found a new sponsor since Microsoft backed out late last week. Warner Bros. Pictures stepped up and took the opportunity to pitch director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. It would have been way funnier if Apple took the spot but this should be pretty cool too.
Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show is still set to air on November 8 with sneak peeks of the Sherlock Holmes film set to come out Christmas Day. The original concept for the show was to feature Windows 7 promotion spots instead of commercials. However, there’s been no word on how tightly integrated the Holmes content will be by comparison. Hopefully Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will somehow tie-in the new material for the show itself as originally intended. »

When you have shows like The Simpsons well into twenty years on television, a sixth season renewal for any show doesn’t seem so grand. However, I’m excited about American Dad coming back because it’s easily my favorite animated show on TV right now. You read that right, American Dad is the best in my opinion.
Fortunately, I’m not alone. American Dad “rates among the season’s top 10 shows with men 18-49 and adults 18-34″ and was recently nominated for outstanding animated program. Well deserved I might add. This season six renewal, along with the second season pickup of The Cleveland Show, means creator Seth MacFarlane maintains his lock on Fox’s Sunday night “animation domination” lineup. Not bad for a guy who had his original series, Family Guy, canceled only to return after record-breaking DVD sales.
As to the reason why I prefer American Dad, it’s quite simple. »

For those concerned that they would die without ever seeing a sequin-overall-clad Stewie Griffin hustle to "Turn The Beat Around" after Microsoft pulled out of its sponsorship deal last week, fear not. Justice will be served by Sherlock Holmes himself. Yesterday, Warner Bros. announced that they would use Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show to promote the studio's Christmas-timed Holmes. The Nov. 8 Family Guy program will now feature a sneak preview of the film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. [Associated Press] »

Warner Bros. is planning to present an extended trailer for the December-released "Sherlock Holmes" during "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show". The news about the trailer airing came up as this Guy Ritchie-directed adventure thriller stepped in to be the sole sponsor for the TV special, which is set for November 8 broadcast at 8:30 P.M., to replace Microsoft.
Fox made the announcement during the pre-show of Game 3 of the World Series on Saturday, October 31. It is still unclear whether the trailer will be weaved into the "Family Guy" special, but the network has mentioned in the Saturday promo that a sneak preview would run during the show, which could mean the trailer may be featured as a separate spot that runs before or after the special.
Around a week ago, Microsoft bailed out as the exclusive sponsor for the show after executives watched the show's taping. »

Got to admit I was a little under whelmed when watching this at the cinema. The main problem I found was the complete lack of pace and strangely for a Michael Mann film the editing was sub-par. I felt the narrative suffered a lot on the big screen. I was very disappointed because this was coming from one of the greatest filmmakers in America over the past decade.
Fortunately Public Enemies works much better on the small screen. The story of John Dillinger and the obsessive manhunt that took place is actually a very intimate one. The film has epic qualities but overall it really is just a story about one man that blurred the lines between criminal and hero.
Johnny Depp as always gives it his all; he captures the human being behind one of the most interesting figures in crime history. Christian Bale is well cast »

When Microsoft pulled their ads for Windows 7 which were suppose to air during "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show", Fox struggled to find a sponsor to take their place. According to reports, "Sherlock Holmes" came to the rescue. Warner Brothers thinks the same demographic that'll watch a "Family Guy" variety show is going to most likely see Guy Ritchie's version of "Sherlock Holmes". The special, which is scheduled to air on November 8th, was reportedly too inappropriate for Microsoft's taste. To be honest, we're surprised Apple didn't jump at the chance to replace them as they're ongoing battle has been more heated than ever as of recent. "Sherlock Holmes", which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, hits theaters on Christmas Day.
