Well, this is a politically correct movie, nothing interesting for those who watch movies to see if there's something indecent or exploitative (according to their attitudes), and who made some movies cut or even withdrawn from American cinemas and shops. And I don't see many reasons for others to watch it too. After so many films about abuse this one brings nothing new, it is veeery predictable, Mare Winningham was almost the only reason I started watching it and the only reason I didn't quit. But she couldn't help, she was as weak as the rest of the movie. The only bright moment is a last minute, a rather poetic ending for such a movie, but you won't understand it if you don't watch the whole film, and this scene is not that good you should suffer and sacrifice your time. (Well, if you prefer Oprah, go ahead...) If you want to watch sexual abuse, try to find brilliant 'Something About Amelia'. But try also 'Une femme nueve' among French, or some Italian like 'Padre padrone'. American watchers might be surprised to find that sexual abuse is not the only molestation that can be a problem in families. And I wonder when will someone make a movie about children psychological consequences from war traumas in Srebrenica, Vukovar, Rwanda, Iraq... Or about children that work since age of ten in Asian factories for western companies so that politically correct industrialists get cheaper workers and politically correct average western population can buy cheaper clothes or shoes.
