  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The Sharks wear home uniforms, even when they are on the road. The home team is allowed to choose which jersey to wear (though it's admittedly unusual to wear the white "away" uniforms at home).

  • Factual errors: During the playoff game which was played in Dallas, the on-screen scoreboard shows the Miami Sharks on the bottom of the scoreboard which, in American sport, is the usual place for the home team.

  • Continuity: During the last game, a sideline shot of D'Amato and Rooney is reversed as evidenced by Rooney's #19 being backwards.

  • Continuity: During Beamen's first game, after the first touchdown but before the extra point, the TV score shows the Sharks already have 7 points instead of 6. Then players on the field talk about getting the extra point.

  • Continuity: During the game in Los Angeles, the scoreboard shows a score of 21-7 for the Crusaders in the second quarter but in the next shot the TV score shows 14-7.

  • Continuity: In the last regular season game, the Sharks had just scored their second touchdown, yet the scoreboard showed the score as 21-7. The next shot was of the TV scoreboard superimposed on the screen with the correct score of 21-14.

  • Factual errors: When Ben-Hur (1959) is seen on TV, scenes are shown in the wrong order.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Jack Rooney is working out, a crew member is clearly visible in the back of the room as his wife is speaking.

  • Miscellaneous: A shot of Tony and Cap on the sidelines appears backwards. The numbers on Cap's jersey are displayed in reverse.

  • Continuity: Madman's helmet alternates being on and off his head in different shots, while he is being ejected.

  • Factual errors: In the end credits there are thanks to the City of Irvine, Texas rather than Irving, Texas (where Texas Stadium is located.)

  • Continuity: In one scene, the play clock is ticking down to 12, and then in the next shot, it is stopped at 25

  • Continuity: The game against Dallas begins at night time (the sky viewed through the stadium roof is dark), but later it appears to be a daytime (the sky is blue).

  • Continuity: After halftime in Dallas, the Knights score to go up 35-24 but as the referee signals touchdown, the scoreboard in the background shows the score as 14-10.

  • Continuity: In the last game, Julian Washington #33 approaches the referee from the right side without his helmet, but in the next shot he's coming from the left side with his helmet on. The helmet appears and disappears in the subsequent shots.

  • Continuity: When Harvey is getting fired, Ollie takes his sunglasses off, but in the previous shot they were already off.

  • Continuity: Early in the movie when a close-up of the Shark's schedule is shown, among the teams listed are the San Francisco Knights and the Texas Rattlesnakes. Later, the Sharks play a team called the Dallas Knights in the playoffs.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Willie Beaman enters his first game, he says the snap count is on two. At the line of scrimmage, the ball is snapped on one.

  • Continuity: When Willie is talking to his mother on the phone after his first game and they show a reply of him throwing up on TV - it shows the score as 21-17 Miami. However, when Beamen enters the game, the opponent had already scored it's defensive touchdown to make it 24-21.

  • Continuity: In the beginning of the film, right after Cap Rooney (Dennis Quaid) is hurt, the commentator calling the football game refers to Cap Rooney's age as 38. Once he is helped up and carried off the field the same commentator refers to his age again, but this time says he is 39.

  • Continuity: Before the final play of the game, the quarterback is shown in the huddle with a part of his right shoulderpad outside of his jersey. When he comes to the line, the pad is tucked back in.
