Oh my god, this is the funniest thing to come out out of low budget British comedy in the last 10 years. It is not only well impersonated, it is absoloutely hysterical. The best impersonations are Michael Caine, Joe Pesci, Mick and Keith, Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson. I've only seen the first three episodes, I caught them a week ago, but I would be hard pressed to laugh so hard at anything as much as I laughed at this for the next few months.
What struck me most was how good the impersonations really were. Jack Nicholson often teeters on Australian, but that doesn't matter. Joe Pesci is perfect though, indistinguishable from the real thing, and hilarious because of it. Mick and Keith are the silliest characters and two of the funniest. "Keith that was top notch holy water! I ordered it directly from the Vatican!" Hahahahaha!
John Sessions isn't someone I usually find very funny, but he has found his home of comic genius in Stella Street. Brightened up what was an otherwise dulll week for me. Recommended to anyone.
My one criticism: where is the De Niro impersonation, or do they respect him TOO much?
