Trivia:

Jack Black plays Steven's friend Rick. Towards the end of the movie, his fellow bandmate from Tenacious D, Kyle Gass, can be seen playing the couch potato who reaches for a book when his cable cuts out.

Goofs:

Continuity: In the end, Chip is hanging from a tower holding on to arm of the main character near the dish. He falls down and lands in the exact middle of the dish. In more distant shots, the tower is nowhere near the dish.

Incredibly under-rated

The most under-rated movie ever. This is probably the greatest dark comedy in existence. Unfortunately it did badly at the box office as it attracted Jim Carrey's fans he obtained doing films previous to this such as "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" and "The Mask". These fans wanted another light-hearted, no-brainer comedy and so they weren't happy with this dark, dark comedy which is actually quite smart. Then critics gave very mixed reviews. Many "got" the film and hailed it for the greatness it deserves. Many didn't get it as they again were expecting a comedy and got a film which is more like a dark thriller with comedic bits. Ben Stiller shows fantastic promise as a director, especially how he uses colour to show the movie's dark undertones and as always Jim Carrey is fantastic. Owen Wilson, Jack Black, Matthew Broderick and Ben Stiller also star -although Owen only has a bit-part and Ben only has a cameo... well technically two cameos. This film rules!
