  • Continuity: The position of Harry's glass of cola when laughing at the diner.

  • Continuity: In the bar, Lloyd grabs the bartender with one hand but the next shot shows him grabbing him with the other hand.

  • Continuity: When Harry and Lloyd are sitting in their apartment, there is a beer cap in the middle of the floor after Larry threw it. In the next shot, it is closer to the couch than the previous shot.

  • Continuity: When Harry and Loyd first arrive at the truck stop, a man with a white hat leaves the diner after the eighteen wheeler passes by. After Sea-Bass spits in Harry's burger, the same man is about to exit again

  • Revealing mistakes: Guitarist miming "Mockingbird".

  • Continuity: After shooting Harry, Nicholas' gun has the slide locked back, indicating that it is empty. In the next shot the slide is forward again.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd and Harry get stopped for speeding, Harry rolls the window down, even though it was already opened in shots from a moment before.

  • Continuity: The bathroom window in Harry's toilet scene.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Lloyd and Mary are going to the airport, you can see a white van out the rear window. The driver is turning the steering wheel, but he keeps going straight.

  • Continuity: At the beginning of the movie, Harry's van has bucket seats, yet later on when the "gas-man" rides along, he is sitting on a bench seat in-between Harry and Lloyd.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd tackles Mary on the hotel stairs, she is wearing black pantyhose. By the time they get to the hotel room, she has mysteriously changed into gray tights.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd drops Mary off at the airport and hugs her goodbye, in the background there are two men walking towards them. The camera changes to the angle behind Mary then behind Lloyd and then back to the side. When it returns to the side view the two men are farther away but still walking toward them.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Harry is on the toilet at Mary's, the dolly track is visible on the floor.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd states that the map says they've only driven a quarter of an inch, you will see a creek with an unusual tree growing around it. You see the same creek and tree when Harry and Lloyd pick up the "gas man."

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harry is talking to the lady in the gas station, and his legs catch fire, you can see the burn gel on his pants.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd is trying on tuxedos, in the shot from the back of Harry's head you see a short cigar in his mouth. In the next shot from behind (when he stands up), the cigar gets bigger.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Lloyd slides along the airport floor to pick up the briefcase, he stops at a strip of yellow tape which marks the place where he should stand up.

  • Continuity: Notice Lloyd's fork when Lloyd and Harry are in the restaurant. In the side shot there is no fork, but when it changes to a front shot the fork appears. This happens several times throughout the scene.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd drops Mary off at the airport, the interior of the car is different once Lloyd gets back in.

  • Factual errors: Airbags immediately deflate after deployment and do not stay inflated for more than 0.3 seconds as indicated.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd tells Harry to throw some salt over his right shoulder, he puts the salt shaker next to Harry's burger and fries. The next shot shows the salt shaker behind the basket of Harry's food.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harry and Lloyd are reading the newspaper about the International Preservation Society, the exact same paragraphs are repeated many times throughout the paper.

  • Revealing mistakes: After Lloyd drops Mary off at the airport, he starts the limousine and puts the car into reverse, but the car moves forward.

  • Revealing mistakes: During the tongue scene, when Mary is pulling Harry's tongue off the ski lift, you can see Harry's real tongue right under the fake stretchy one.

  • Continuity: When Harry has his tongue stuck to the chairlift, there is frost on the pole when he licks it. Later, when he asks the kids for a cup of warm water, there is none. Then when Mary removes his tongue, the frost is back.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harry and Mary are making the snowman, there are three pre-formed holes where Mary puts the charcoal and carrot.

  • Continuity: At the ball, when Helen and Harry are talking and in the background, you can see Lloyd's hat is on the bar. A second later when he shows off his butt, he is holding his hat.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd is sleeping on Harry's shoulder in the van, it seems his head on the left side is leaning on Harry and messes up his hair. When they stop at the gas station, Lloyd's hair is messed up on the right side when he is in the bathroom.

  • Continuity: During the snowball fight it is snowing/not snowing between shots.

  • Continuity: During the scene in which Lloyd encounters the "little old lady on the motorized cart", his wallet which had been left inside the newspaper vending machine disappears between shots.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd falls off the runway, the Asian man has a smile on his face. You can see it in the glass. But when the camera's on the man's face his expression is different.

  • Continuity: When Llyod falls off the Jetway, the Asian airport worker winces when he hits the ground, however his reaction is different in the reflection in the window

  • Continuity: After they are both fired, the bottle cap that Lloyd tosses on the floor moves about between shots.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Harry and Lloyd are at home, Harry opens a beer and throws the bottle cap on the floor. It makes the sound of hitting a hardwood/tile floor even though all shots of the living room floor show it to be wall to wall carpet.

  • Continuity: When Lloyd drives Mary to the airport, he is in a car with no airbag. Afterward, we see an airbag deploy when he hits a car.

  • Plot holes: When Mr. Mentalino sees the note for the gas man on Harry and Lloyd's apartment, he thinks they meant it for him, exclaiming, "how did they know I got gas?" Yet later Mentalino decides to hitch a ride with the two and takes no steps to disguise himself since he earlier made the assumption that Harry and Lloyd knew who he was.

  • Continuity: Harry and Lloyd drive over the same bridge twice on their way to Aspen.

  • Errors in geography: In the second part of the movie Harry and Lloyd are supposed to be in Aspen. However, that part of the movie was filmed in Breckenridge. The town of Breckenridge has one main street where shops and restaurants are located with streets descending hills feeding into the main drag. Aspen is a town spread out across many blocks with rather busy traffic. This information was confirmed by the public relations director for the Breckenridge ski area.

  • Revealing mistakes: The lift operators at Aspen are wearing Copper Mountain uniforms. Copper is in Colorado, but is over two hours from Aspen.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When the doves appear in Lloyd's dream sequence, we see crewmembers releasing doves while lying on the floor behind two pairs of their own white sneakers.

  • Continuity: In the opening sequence, the limo Lloyd is driving appears to be around 6 to 8 feet away from the girl on the sidewalk. When the camera angle changes and Lloyd talks to the girl, the limo appears to be only 2 feet away from the sidewalk.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Harry and Lloyd are leaving Rhode Island in the van, a hand can be seen moving the curtain behind Harry's head.

  • Continuity: After Harry is shot near the end of the movie, he reveals that he is wearing a bulletproof vest. The bulletproof vest, however, shows no damage from the gunshots to the chest.

  • Continuity: When Harry and Lloyd both get back from work and they are sitting down, a glass bottle is standing up inside the small end table between the couch and the chair. Later in the scene, the bottle is knocked over.

  • Revealing mistakes: Mary's skiing stunt-double, seen coming to a stop before the snowball fight, clearly has long black hair.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the champagne cork is flying towards the owls, the stick turning the cork is clearly visible (DVD Version Only).

  • Continuity: When Lloyd, Harry and the "gas man" stop at Dante's restaurant, the water jug on the left on the bar moves between shots.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The Mexican hitchhiker's guitar playing doesn't match the playing that's heard. Also you can see him stop playing in the middle of the singalong while it audibly continues.

  • Factual errors: Outside the airport, after bumping his limo with another car, the airbag inflating towards Lloyd's face correctly origins from the center of the steering wheel. In next scene, while he is fighting with it in order to gain access to the airport, it has been replaced by another kind of a balloon, clearly not coming out from the steering wheel.

  • Continuity: At the Preservation Society Party, the wine in Helen's glass changes from near empty to near full.

  • Revealing mistakes: The time of Harry and Lloyd's trip takes place in late March, yet as they pass through Pennsylvania many of the deciduous trees have green leaves. At that latitude trees actually don't start sprouting leaves until late April.

  • Errors in geography: When first driving out of Rhode Island, they are heading north on Route 146, because you can see the Union Paper building in the shot. In the next shot showing the highway as they are driving, they are on 95 South, passing the "Big Blue Bug", a local pest control company building. There is no way they can be driving on both of these highways at the same time, they head in opposite directions.

  • Revealing mistakes: After the guys get home from being fired and then crack a beer, there is a phone book keeping the couch Harry is sitting on level. In the next scene the phone book disappears.

  • Revealing mistakes: The snow in the camp fire scene is obviously fake (fabric and/or plastic).

  • Continuity: When Lloyd is at the bar waiting on Mary to show up (for the date Harry told him he set up, which was a lie) the bartender offers him a beer, on the house. Right before he offers the beer, there are two bottles in front of Lloyd. After the bartender opens up the beer (which he appears to grab from off screen, not from the counter), he places it beside one bottle.

  • Continuity: When Harry and Mary are wrestling in the snow, Mary is starting to roll over from having her face mashed into the snow. In the next shot her face is firmly planted in the snow again.

  • Continuity: Harry and Mary spend the early part of the day together and make plans to meet the evening of the same day at 7:45 pm. Later on that night (same day) as the three (Harry, Lloyd and Mary) are being held at gunpoint, Harry says, "Yesterday was the best day of my life. Mary and I went skiing....etc". But it wasn't 'yesterday', it was earlier the same day that Harry and Mary went skiing.

  • Factual errors: In the restaurant Dante's Inferno, the investigators say that Harold and Lloyd are on Interstate 80 heading towards Colorado. Interstate 80 doesn't go through Colorado, but more importantly, how would they know that someone on Interstate 80 was heading to a particular state?

  • Continuity: When Harry and Lloyd are first in the hotel suite, Lloyd can barely read the newspaper article about Mary. Yet later when he goes to meet Mary at the bar, he clearly reads the newspaper on the wall about landing on the moon.

  • Continuity: When Harry and Lloyd are in their hotel rooming talking about meeting Mary at 10PM instead of AM, Harry starts walking out of the room. He stops and turns to look at Lloyd and says, "10AM..". As he says this there is clearly a wall right next to him. When the picture pans out to show Lloyd and Harry, there is no wall remotely close to Harry.

  • Continuity: The Cadillac limo Lloyd is driving at the beginning is from the early 1980s and would have no airbag. The steering wheel is obviously not equipped with one in the shots either. After Lloyd drops off Mary at the airport, he gets back in the car and the wheel has been swapped with an airbag-style one for the scene where it deploys (with an inflated garbage bag of some sort).

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where the FBI charges into the hotel room, Beth identifies herself as Special Officer Beth Jordan. FBI agents are actually known as Special Agents.

  • Continuity: After Harry and Lloyd flee Dante's Inferno, an FBI agent states that "they were seen heading west on I-80." The next road you see them on is a rural two lane highway. Not a big four lane interstate like I-80.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harry and Mary are making a snowman, there is pair of skis stuck in the snow with the top hat hanging on them. But they have both changed out of their ski clothes, neither of them are wearing ski boots, and there is no other ski equipment there.

  • Continuity: In the Colorado scenes, the snow coverage on the ground is constantly changing.
