Eleven year old Preston Waters (Brian Bonsall) who is low kid on the family totem pole gets a lecture from his father Fred (James Rebhorn) on saving his money, while his older brothers, Ralph (Michael Faustino) and Damian (Chris Demetral), are bully brothers. The final insult arrives when Preston is invited to a friend's birthday party at an amusement park, Preston doesn't have enough money to go on any of the new cool rides. Preston wishes to the gods in heaven that he had his own money. At that point, a criminal named Quigley (Miguel Ferrer) runs over Preston's bike with his car. Eager to leave before the cops arrive, Quigley gives Preston a half written check and disappears. Preston looks down at the check and notices that the amount has not been filled in, so he completes the transaction by adding six zeroes and a one for a cold million dollars. This amount by coincidence, happens to be the exact amount that Quigley has deposited in a money laundering bank run by his partner Biderman (Michael Lerner). Preston goes to the bank, cashes the check, and purchases a mansion with all the toys he has ever wanted. Quigley and his gang want the money back, they arrive at Preston's to take back the cash. Blank Check is an entertaining fantasy movie, this would never happen in real life, but it was fun to imagine if it did. Miguel Ferrer is always a bad guy and he plays the role so well in this.
