Lauren Graham replaced Maura Tierney on NBC's new Parenthood because of the ER alum's battle with cancer. Now the network is offering a first look at the 42-year-old Graham's take on the role of Sarah Braverman, one of the key players on the new series.
Maura Tierney leaves Parenthood to accommodate cancer treatment
The scene is one that Tieney also performed before her departure from the series — which gives audiences a rare chance to compare two top-notch actresses playing the same part, and wonder what might have been if Tierney had been able to stay with the series.

I'm glad that the organization, (now in year three I believe?) has a set in stone manner in which to evaluate the best of the best in doc films, something in which the Oscars have proved to be inadequate in acknowledging. - Having never asked any filmmaker the question of how the Cinema Eye Honors are perceived within the documentary filmmaker community, I'd be willing to bet that its quickly become a welcomed, annual celebration of the form. I'm glad that the organization, (now in year three I believe?) has a set in stone manner in which to evaluate the best of the best in doc films, something in which the Oscars have proved to be inadequate in acknowledging. The cut-off point appears to be before this year's Tiff, which means a doc like Chris Smith's Collapse, which only receives its theatrical release in November, won't make the cut until next year, »

Well ABC seemed to be out in the lead for having the most shows we were thankful for in 2009 with 4 of their new shows making our list. In second place was the USA channel with 2, while Syfy, Fox, HBO and NBC all had 1 on the list as well. I was surprised that CBS didn’t make our list but with so many already good shows previous to 2009 they didn’t have to add a lot to their programming schedule. Glee got our top spot while Flashforward barely made the list.
1. Glee
Couldn’t think of any other show to go here than this one. A complete surprise this musical dramedy series from of all people, Ryan Murphy, the guy who brought us Nip/Tuck. This series is a massive 180 from his repetoire but thats okay because we love it. Everything from the weekly musical selections, to the talented group of »

E.R. star Shane West was so drunk after watching Katy Perry perform at a club in Los Angeles, he fell over and cut his face.
The actor was enjoying the pop star's show at Boulevard3 last week and he was having such a good time, he decided to take the party back to his house.
But the fun came to a finish when he tripped up and fell face-first in his backyard, leaving him with several bruises and cuts, according to RadarOnline.com.
The star kept a low profile to hide his injured face until he flew out of America over the weekend (21-22Nov09) to embark on a U.K. tour with his band The Germs. »

As previously announced, theCW would be premiering the new series, Life UneXpected, on January 18th. The network has now created a nearly 5 minute featurette that's primarily a sneak peek and contains scenes from the pilot episode, as well as introducing you to all of the characters.
As mentioned, I've watched the pilot episode and liked it, but Shiri Appleby doesn't look like she could be the mother of a 15 year old. She looks like she's perpetually 25 years old, which she is most definitely going to appreciate when she grows older. The newer cast photo below shows her with a shorter cut that makes her look older, so let's see whether the rest of you are convinced that she could be this young girl's mother.
After spending all of her 15 years bouncing from one foster family to another in Portland, Oregon, Lux (Britt Robertson, “Swingtown”) has decided it’s time to »

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! An incredibly solid week as we’ve got three Blackest Night tie-ins, some speedster action and a particularly “horrible” tale, but only one issue each week tops the “list.” Be sure to let us know what you thought of these issues, we’re always interested to hear from you, the readers. In taking on the role of International Oversight Committee (Ioa) officer aboard the Destiny in SyFy's Stargate Universe, actress Ming-Na is exploring perhaps even more uncharted territory than her character, Camile Wray. Stargate's Camille is the first Asian American lesbian on a primetime broadcast or basic cable show, and one of only a few Asian American lesbian or bisexual characters ever on primetime American TV. She's also the Stargate franchise's first lesbian character.
The actress, who began her career on a soap opera (As the World Turns) before getting her big break in The Joy Luck Club (1993) and going on to star in ER (from 1995 to 2004), has embraced her role in the Stargate universe, where soldiers and scientists interact with alien races while aboard an ancient ship locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth.
AfterEllen.com recently spoke to Ming-Na about the show and this week's episode, »

Having welcomed a healthy daughter in 2006 — Margaret ‘Maggie’ Heather, 3 — actress Kellie Martin is ever cognizant of all she has to be grateful for.
“I had no trouble and no complications, and it’s still difficult to be a parent … It’s still difficult to be a new mom,” the 34-year-old former ER star notes to Celebrity Baby Blog at the March of Dimes‘ Fourth Annual Celebration of Babies.
“The idea that people have babies who are born with complications and issues or really, really low birth weights, that’s so much more difficult. I’m right here to support that. »

Kathy Griffin may not love Lindsay Lohan, but she has celebrated lesbians like Melissa Etheridge and Rosie O'Donnell on her successful show, My Life on the D-List. And then, of course, there was the "kiss" she shared with Aubrey O'Day on last year's Bravo's A-List Awards.
And last week, she told Joy Behar she'd vote Suze Orman for president.
Now, she'll play a lesbian activist on a winter episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
TVGuide.com is reporting that Kathy is set to appear on Feb. 10, which was revealed via the show's producer, Neal Baer, on his Twitter.
Although most people know Griffin for her stand-up and comedic roles, she has played more serious parts (small and large) in shows like ER, The X-Files, Strong Medicine and Privileged.
We don't know much else yet, including what exactly Kathy's character is an activist for and how close she gets with Detective Benson, »

For its final season, Lost is bringing back a number of key characters.
But it's also introducing a handful of new ones. Who will William Atherton portray on the series, for example? We have no idea. But the actor will be featured on a number of episodes.
The same can now be said for Sheila Kelley, as Michael Ausiello confirms she's nabbed a recurring role on Lost.
The actress - who has appeared on episodes of ER and The Sopranos, but is best known for her three-year arc as Gwen Taylor on L.A. Law - will take on the character of Kendall.
Previous casting notices described her as an "intellectual beauty with a sharp edge to her wit who is caught committing corporate espionage and has to lie her way out."
Any thoughts on how she might play into the larger Lost picture? When we hear "corporate espionage," it's hard »

I watched (and enjoyed) the pilot episode for this show back in the summer (when it used to be called "Parental Discretion" and now theCW has annouced a premiere date for the rebranded Life UneXpected: January 18, 2010 (likely at 9:00 p.m.).

As reported by Variety, ER's Goran Visnjic will join Ewan McGregor, Mélanie Laurent and Christopher Plummer in Mike Mills' Beginners, described as an "indie drama" for Olympus Pictures and Parts and Labor. Seriously? Indie drama? That.s it? That.s never it with the power of Google at your fingertips. Apparently, someone over at Movieline has the script and posted a brief synopsis. .McGregor plays a young man rocked by two announcements from his elderly father (Plummer) . one, that he has terminal cancer, and two, that he.s coming out of the closet.. Good enough for me! Now that that.s out of the way, back to Visnjic. Who can argue with seeing the tall, dark and handsome Dr. Kovac on the big screen? Perhaps he.s even playing Plummer.s character.s oncologist. Playing a doctor on TV served him well, why not play one in a movie? »

For the most part, medical dramas tend to come and go pretty regularly on network TV. Some stick around and have a pretty successful run, such as E.R. or Chicago Hope, and some are long gone before you can even remember the show’s name, like Heartland starring Treat Williams. Thankfully, Fox’s House falls under the former category.
Now in it’s sixth season, House is picking up steam like never before, and we’ve got some brand new clips from tonight’s episode, “Known Unknowns.” In the episode, House must deal with the perils of the office while away at a medical conference, while Foreman (Omar Epps) treats a returning patient.
In the first clip, the sardonic Hugh Laurie as House discusses his distaste for the returning trend of the 1980s. In the second, Foreman checks out a former patient who goes through some hallucinations that could prove deadly. »

Here's a bit of casting news to start the day. Ray Winstone has jumped onto Red Snow, a "serial killer thriller" in which Winstone will be "an ex-sas officer tracking down his missing daughter in the snow forests of a remote town in north Canada." Script and direction are by Stuart St. Paul based on the true story of a killer that targeted Alaskan towns in the '80s. You don't know St. Paul's name, but you know his work; he's been a stunt guy for over 30 years with credits including Aliens, some of the Roger Moore Bond films and the recent Red Riding productions. [THR] After the break, news for Goran Visnjic and Gwyneth Paltrow. ER's Goran Visnjic has joined Beginners, an indie that has already attracted a significant cast: Ewan McGregor, Melanie Laurent (Shosanna from Inglourious Basterds) and Christopher Plummer are in this one. With the doors of ER’s County General Hospital now forever closed, poor old Goran Visnjic – who played dishy doc Dr. Luka Kovac – has had to find a new home. And it looks like he’s decided to give the big screen one last try by signing on to join Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Inglourious Basterds star, Melanie Laurent, in Beginners.Mike Mills – the director of Thumbsucker, not to be confused with R.E.M.’s frizzy-haired bassist – is directing the indie movie, whose plot is being kept very firmly under wraps, from his own script. Filming has already begun in L.A.Visjnic, thus far, hasn’t exactly set the movie world alight. He’s had bad guy turns in the likes of Practical Magic and The Deep End, was the love interest in the risible Elektra, and impressed in Michael Winterbottom’s Welcome To Sarajevo. But, now »
