In the note on Albert Einstien's picture in the diner is a quote, "Imagination is more Important than Knowledge" attributed to Kia Ora. "Kia ora" is actually a phrase used as an informal greeting in Maori, the indigenous language of New Zealand. Director Geoff Murphy was born in New Zealand and in this particular instance, most Maori people would regard the greeting as very tongue-in-cheek.

Goofs:

Revealing mistakes: When Alex is escaping by car from Julies apartment, a car is turned over when it collides with a "tram". In the background, you can see the ramp.

Good Entertainment Value

A surprisingly good film with excellent performances by its actors (particularly notable are the minor cameos by an Irish nurse and a street bum) and a good, solid plot. Mick Jagger does an excellent job as a bounty hunter and Rene Russo is at her best. Contains some good chase scenes involving a number of quirky military vehicles (Soviet reconnaissance cars and US FAVs) and a number of decent sized gunfights. Satisfying all across the board.
