Trivia:
Intended to be the Australian-born Nicole Kidman's farewell to Australian cinema; by the time the film went into production, she had received international acclaim for her part in Dead Calm (1989), and was being courted by US studios to appear in American productions. She wouldn't star in another Australian film for another decade, (2001's Moulin Rouge! (2001)). As a result of Kidman's fame, she received top billing and was prominently featured in print advertising for the film, despite only appearing in a few scenes. Conversely, star 'Noah Taylor' only appeared in print ads in silhouette. moreQuotes:
Nicola Radcliffe: So what did you actually do together?Thandiwe Adjewa: I beg your pardon?
Nicola Radcliffe: No, it's all right. You don't have to tell me. I think... if I liked somebody enough... I'd want to...
Thandiwe Adjewa: Have you ever?
Nicola Radcliffe: Of course not.
Thandiwe Adjewa: Almost?
Nicola Radcliffe: Well... Do you remember the young guy who was fixing the bell tower? I used to take him a cup of tea each morning before assembly. I rather liked him even though he never said anything much. I used to... close my eyes... and sit on a chair... and let him touch me all over...

I'm 16 years old and I saw the film few days ago. I recorded it on tape and I watch it every day. I've seen a lot of movies but this is really special. I had a feeling that it's as real as I am. Maybe it's because of my age but I really "found myself" in the movie. The characters of Thandiwe and Danny are as real as they can be. Although it takes place in 1965 I think that I would feel and act the same. I would consider myself a very happy man if I could find the same love as Danny and Thandiwe did. I think I will spend the rest of my life imagining how would it be if Danny and Thandiwe ever meet again. I hope they do... "Suddenly there were much bigger worlds again and some small place in them for me."
