Loosely based on the true story of Frances Toto and her four unsucessful attempts to kill her cheating husband, Anthony Toto, in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1984. Anthony spent four days in bed after being drugged and shot by Frances and her friends; who spent four years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

Goofs:

Continuity: In the opening title sequence, a close up of Kline preparing pizza shows a wedding ring on his left hand. But when he is seen, in a tight shot of his hands, slicing mushrooms like a pro (i.e. his mushroom slicing double), there is no ring.

Quotes:

Nadja: Rosalie, listen to this... It says here some woman was eaten alive by her own houseplants. Can you *imagine*?

Remarkably, the film is based on a real event. But it takes off from that base and becomes a screwball comedy in the classic style.

Wonderfully droll performances are given by everyone in this Hitchcock-like farce about a murder that doesn't quite work and a man who just won't die. Joan Plowright steals every scene she is in -- which isn't easy in a film that is full of so many zany plot twists and hilarious lines of dialogue.

This film is a little gem of a comedy. See it if you can.
