Trivia:
Although the story is set in various places around the world, nearly all of the film (including scenes set in Washington and Germany) were filmed in the area of the director's home town, Chicago. moreGoofs:
Continuity: Towards the end of the movie, we see two scenes: the President of the U.S. and the General Secretary coming into the hall to make a statement about the treaty and Gene Hackman having to stop at a RR crossing because of a train. The next scene is the President/General Secretary leaving the conference, seemingly having made statements concerning the treaty. And yet Gene Hackman is still at the RR tracks with the train just finishing crossing. It is highly unlikely that the train crossing would be so long as to take up the entire time of speeches by the President and General Secretary. moreQuotes:

This is a very good movie. It has a strong story (which most of the today's movies lack of) and a good relationship between characters. I have seen it a dozen times at least but I still find it rewarding to watch although I know it by heart. I think this should say something about the quality of the film. If you haven't seen it, do it. You won't regret it.
