NOTES
bigboy comments: The full-frame (MCA/Universal) transfer of "Do the Right Thing" is not up to the level of the best current discs, but was good for its time (1990), and is still pleasant to watch. Indoor scenes fare better than outdoor - the latter are occasionally a little pale. Most of the transfer is sharp. The color transfer is inferior to the print shown several years ago by CBS, but it's not glaringly poor by any means. The sound is very good.
The removal of the matte in this version results in too much headroom a lot of the time - the film is clearly not properly framed. For this reason, and for the shortcomings listed above, the Criterion disc is an interesting alternative.
