Think you can identify every Simpsons character ever in the history of the known universe? Be our guest.
Fox has unveiled a huge new poster of all of the show's characters in the last 20 years. You can see a bigger image of the breathtaking new poster here.
It's actually quite detailed and goes well beyond the two decade long scope of the actual show. A quick scan of the characters turned up a shot of Marge and Homer from their short days on The Tracey Ullman Show.

What is Matt Groening's favorite episode of The Simpsons?

More than most other shows, it's almost impossible to pick a favorite episode from The Simpsons. When a show is around for 20 years, it's hard to narrow it down to the one episode that stands out among all the rest. Sure, there are episodes that stand out to me immediately (none from the past four or five years, that's for sure), but it would be hard to choose my favorite.
The new issue of Emmy magazine asks several writers and producers from the show what their favorite episodes are, including creator Matt Groening. Can you guess which episode he picked?

All this poster is missing is Waldo. Tied to the DVD release of The Simpsons' 20th season (out Jan. 12), Fox has created an updated poster of their famous shot from 2007's The Simpsons Movie. Because, clearly, they did not fit enough characters on their first poster. Slackers. (You can only enjoy this new and improved poster in larger form here—this shot is exclusive to EW!)
Springfield folks I'm glad made the cut this time around? The Golem from "Treehouse of Horror Xvii," the angel skeleton from "Lisa the Skeptic," and Ray Romano's Ray Magini from "Don't Fear the Roofer.

Stretching the limits of the imagination, and breathing a whole new life into a classic work of Medieval literature, Anchor Bay Entertainment releases the stunning animated feature Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic on DVD and Blu-rayâ„¢ February 9th. This is a collaboration with Electronic Arts, which first conceived of a new telling of the classic story and will release its “Dante’s Inferno” videogame day-and-date with the animated feature.
Film Roman, the acclaimed animation studio behind such films as Dead Space: Downfall (based on the Electronic Arts game “Dead Space”) and Hellboy Animated, took a wholly new approach to creating the circles of Hell the films’ hero Dante must navigate. Several usual suspects -- "30 Rock," "Mad Men," "The Office," "The Simpsons" -- picked up multiple nominations for the 2010 Writers Guild of America Awards -- but a couple of new shows broke through too.
"Glee" and "Modern Family" are both up for best comedy and best new series at the guild's awards, which will be presented Feb. 20. "Modern Family" also picked up an episodic comedy nomination for its pilot, written by series creators Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd.
The other comedy series nominees are "30 Rock," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "The Office." For drama series, the contenders are "Breaking Bad," "Dexter," "Friday Night Lights," "Lost" and "Mad Men." Someone from "The Simpsons" will win in the animation category, as its writers swept all five nominations.
Below is a partial list of the nominees in the TV and radio categories (movie nominations will be announced later). The complete list is at WGA.org.

The Simpsons Review: "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?"

On this week's episode of The Simpsons, a power failure during a snow storm convinced Bart he wanted a baby brother. Trust us, it made sense during the context of the episode.
You can catch up on the events in our "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?" recap, including why Peyton, Eli and Cooper Manning all guest starred.
Overall, the episode was fairly entertaining with the plot and story line advancing quickly in Simpsons fashion. Our only real complaint was the brother dream sequence dragged on a little too long without enough laughs.
Some fun notes from the episode:
Sideshow Bob and his brother were back during the dream sequence! Even without dialogue we were thrilled to just see Bob, one of our favorite characters.
Homer's only advice to Bart about his body, "point and shoot" later saved his life.
Barney was back as The Plow King! Might we see a return of Mr.

(S21E08) The last episode of 2009 also has the distinction of being the 449th episode of The Simpsons. The series will come back Sunday, January 10th for a 450th episode extravaganza, including a one-hour 20th anniversary special. It's certainly a big year for Tracey Ullman's one-time back-up series.
The beginning of the episode had an almost frantic pace, as it set up about four or five different possible plotlines, before finally settling on Bart's jealousy of Lisa and Maggie's relationship. His attempts to help his parents create a little brother for him were a little disturbing, but that was more than made up for by a fantasy sequence featuring many famous brothers.

Jack Black & Illumination Entertainment Invest in Cryptozoology

Animation films, whether it’s the new school CGI or old school hand drawn, have always been popular with kids of all ages and in recent years, have become fun for adults to watch as well; so, it’s no surprise to read a story over at Variety announcing a new CGI feature film involving Jack Black. Writer Jason Micallef pitched an idea to Illumination Entertainment which is an extension of Universal headed by Chris Meledandri.
Micallef’s pitch in set in the world of Cryptozoology, which is the study and search for unknown, yet often talked about, animals or beings. My guess is it will include “monsters” like the Yeti, Sasquatch, Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster and maybe even mermaids or dragons. Black, who at one time was thought to be voicing a character, will now only be producing with business partner Ben Cooley via their production company Electric Dynamite.

Awesome Orsons: Who's the best on-screen Welles?

Christian McKay's performance in Richard Linklater's film has got tongues wagging about a possible Oscar nod. Was he some kind of an Orson?
"What you're really doing is […] presenting to the public that part of you which corresponds to the part which you're playing. There is a villain in each of us, a murderer in each of us, a saint in each of us. And the actor is the man or woman who can eliminate from himself those things which will interfere with that truth."
It's perhaps fitting that Orson Welles maintained such views on acting: that each time the camera rolls or the curtain rises, the players are pulling out aspects of themselves in order to portray particular characters. For when Welles himself has been depicted on screen, the results have been remarkably varied. For such a studied individual, there seems to be no one interpretation of him,

Simon Cowell's first appearance on television

Friendly, funny, modest – that can't be Simon Cowell, can it? We revisit the first TV appearances of some well-known faces
It's 1990; the Berlin Wall has fallen, Mandela is free and Thatcher is hanging by a thread. The people of Britain ought by rights to be out in the streets, singing, hugging strangers and putting flowers in each other's hair. Instead they are sat at home watching Sale of the Century, a gameshow offering inspiring prizes of useless, fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck tat at a reduced, cutting-me-own-throat price. The population are huddled round their televisions watching this glorified market stall of a programme, and little do they know they are about to witness the most significant and auspicious event that entire century could hope to offer. They are about to see Simon Cowell's first television appearance.
Now that his quest to ascend to television godhood is near completion, it is hard to conceive

Viewers reached for the comfort food of CBS' 60 Minutes and NBC's Minnesota-Arizona football matchup on a wintry Sunday night, according to early Nielsen estimates. NBC won the evening, as usual, thanks to Sunday Night Football; the Eye Net's Cold Case, however, continued to fade, dropping 1.2 million viewers since its last airing. ABC's Desperate Housewives, meanwhile, scored with its much-promoted plane crash episode, soaring up 2 million viewers since its last episode. During the rest of the weekend, CBS continued to reign on Friday on the strength of Ghost Whisperer (8.2 million), Medium (7 million), and Numb3rs (7.4 million); Fox's Dollhouse earned its cancellation with a dismal 1.9 million,

I saw Phish last night. A lot of people did (Madison Square Garden is a pretty large room), but it was new for me. I've seen them perform in concert more than 70 times over the years, but not once in the past almost-decade. Granted, they spent part of that period on hiatus, so no one was seeing them then. But I fell off that train in 1999, catching only sporadic shows until mid-2000. So last night was a sort of homecoming. And I have to say, as cynical as I've become of that scene in the years I've been away from it, the show was fan-damn-tastic.
For starters, the setlist really delivered. Enjoyment of a Phish setlist is largely a personal thing; different songs move different folks, and this is a band with a catalog that — between originals and covers — is literally hundreds of songs deep. The selection
