- Continuity: Shutters on the door of the van reappear after it is abandoned.
- Crew or equipment visible: Triggering cords for blood packs visible in the shootout at the drug factory.
- Continuity: Just before Robocop removes his helmet, he is wearing his neckwrap. When he actually removes his helmet, the neckwrap is gone.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop goes to the grocery store robbery and sends the robber through the glass door of the small refrigerator, you can see that the glass is already cracked and starts to break before the man goes through it.
- Revealing mistakes: When the employee is being shot in the meeting, blood packs are visible on his back.
- Crew or equipment visible: After Clarence is killed by Robocop you can briefly see a crew member in the background.
- Revealing mistakes: Clarence shoots Lewis with his pistol but several bullet holes explode from the windshield in the same instant.
- Continuity: Clarence Boddicker's confession alters between recording and playback, both in the words used and in actions performed at the time.
- Continuity: When Murphy and Lewis are chasing the van, after their window gets damaged, it is briefly shown to be undamaged, then damaged again.
- Revealing mistakes: In the shootout at OCP HQ, the third rocket ED-209 fires at Robocop can be seen to travel along a black wire.
- Continuity: Murphy's residence is listed as 548 Primrose, but when RoboCop goes to the house, and reads the street sign right next to it, we see that he's in the 3000 block.
- Continuity: When we first meet Joe, he has a beard. The second time we see him (the drugs bust scene) he has shaved it. But the third time (when Clarence and his men are hunting down Robocop) he is fully bearded again, after a period of just a day or two.
- Revealing mistakes: As Kinney is blasted by ED-209 the bullets pass through his body but the glass windows behind him remain undamaged.
- Crew or equipment visible: All RoboCop POV shots at night show the shadow of the camera light.
- Crew or equipment visible: A crew member is reflected in Robocop's car during his first night on duty.
- Continuity: Various points in the chase at the beginning show a section of the Dallas skyline - notably Reunion Tower - which is both behind and in front of them simultaneously (they drive both toward it and away from it as between shots).
- Revealing mistakes: During Robocop's demonstration at the firing range, his gun does not fire, despite his having squeezed the trigger.
- Continuity: At the target range, Robocop's stance changes. When we see him from the back his right leg is behind the left and when we see him from the front his right leg is in front of the left.
- Continuity: In Dick Jones's office, when he signals ED-209 to come and take out Robocop, ED-209's foot appears, disappears, and reappears between shots.
- Continuity: When RoboCop incriminates Dick Jones, the metal rod that comes out of his hand is visible and it goes into the slot. After Dick Jones takes the old man hostage, Robo's hand is in front of the slot. When Robo moves, there is no metal rod.
- Continuity: When Robocop is told to record for the first time and then play it back, we see several seconds of playback from before he was initially told to record.
- Crew or equipment visible: Camera and crew can be seen reflected in the TV during the first flashback during the resuscitation scene.
- Continuity: When Bob Morton gets off the elevator to go to the meeting, the elevator says "95th floor have a nice day" yet after the meeting when there walking back to the elevator it says 120th floor on the wall.
- Continuity: Dick Jones says "I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake. Now it's time to erase that mistake". RoboCop records this and plays it back at the boardroom at the end of the movie. Dick Jones vocal intonation is different in that recording from how it was when Jones originally said it.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop shoots the ED209 guarding the OCP building with the Cobra. He fires two times, and just before putting the rifle back in the car, there is a blank shell visible, stuck in the rifle.
- Continuity: When Murphy and Lewis are in pursuit of Bodicker and crew, Murphy asks for Lewis to give him her "piece", during the following akimbo style shooting he's seen using a Sig P226 and a HK P9S, in the next scene, upon entering the steelwork both have Sig's
- Continuity: When Robocop is unscrewing the bolt out of his helmet, it disappears.
- Continuity: When ED-209 is firing its rockets at RoboCop, the second time ED-209 targets RoboCop, there are three rockets in their launch tubes, instead of two. When the second rocket is fired, it launches from the correct tube.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop is having his "nightmare", he thrusts his head backward several times, during which you can see the actor's neck between gaps in the neck-piece, rather than the pistons we see later in the movie (when he takes off his helmet).
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop attempts to arrest Dick Jones, and is struggling against Directive Four, at one point his arm is raised above his head, and you can see a circular hole in the rubber around his armpit, revealing a spandex jumpsuit underneath.
- Crew or equipment visible: After the guy is shot by ED-209, when the "Old Man" says, "Dick, I'm VERY disappointed!" you can see a crew member crouching behind his office chair.
- Continuity: When Clarence is next to the upside down crashed 6000 SUX, he is near the rear tire. The next shot shows Anne firing a cannon at the tower, with the upside down 6000 SUX without Clarence.
- Revealing mistakes: After Clarence blows up the second 6000 SUX in the street with the assault cannon, he tells Leon, who's standing next to him, that Robocop is in the steal mill and they have to go. When Leon shouts to the others to get ready to leave, he slams his hand down on top of Clarence's 6000 SUX and the interior rear view mirror falls off the windshield.
- Continuity: In the highway shoot-out/pursuit scene between Murphy and Clarence's crew, one of Clarence's man shoots the police car in the windshield and we can see holes in it. Then when we see the car from further, the windshield is perfectly intact. Then it goes back to being bullet ridden.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop punches Ron Miller out of the window from the second or third floor, the camera crews outside follow his body down to the ground. When you see the replay on Media Break in the next scene, you can see Miller's legs recoil back into the air after he's been knocked out, as if he's only fallen a few feet.
- Continuity: When Robocop's about to be run down by the van towards the end, he fires his usual three-round burst at the windscreen, producing nine bullet holes
- Continuity: During the chase at the steel mill, the sky alternates between sunny and overcast.
- Miscellaneous: When Robocop is revealed by Bob Morton to the staff who are clapping him, he walks past a TV screen filming him, which shows him turn 90 degrees to his left, but in the POV shot he walks in a straight line.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop throws Boddicker through the second window, the window breaks before Boddicker hits it.
- Continuity: At the end of the film, when Clarence and RoboCop come face to face, Clarence holds his hands up and tells RoboCop that he gives up. Clarence's arms are lowered in some shots and raised in others.
- Continuity: When Murphy is being rolled into the OR and after being intubated, close-ups show no tube in his mouth, whereas wider shots show the tube medically taped to his cheek.
- Revealing mistakes: When the convenience store robber knocks over the beer cans concealing the safe, you can tell by the sound they make that they are empty.
- Factual errors: In the POV scenes when Robocop is being assembled, when the female engineer says "Bring in the LED, lock it down", the tech uses a drill with a drilling bit as opposed to a screw or bolt driving bit. This obviously would not work as the tech would be drilling holes in Robo's head instead of securing on LED.
- Continuity: During the first chase, as well as the windows mentioned above, the blue lenses of the light bar are shot out. When they move to the left (driver's side) of the van (right of screen) the light lens is back on and the strobes are flashing. But when they return to behind, the lights are again broke.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When murdered cop Frank Frederickson's nameplate is removed from his locker in one of the opening scenes, it's spelled FREDERICKSON. However, when Robocop is scrolling through the computer looking at Boddickers rap sheet later and it scrolls past Frederickson's murder, his name is spelled very differently.
- Crew or equipment visible: When Clarence Boddicker enters Bob Morton’s home, and say's "bitches leave", you can clearly see the camera crew in the reflection of what appears to be a mirror.
- Revealing mistakes: When Robocop is first brought into the police station, one of the scientists shows a "device" that tracks Robocop's location at all times. This is obviously supposed to be some kind of hand-held LCD screen showing a map and a marker. However, you can clearly see that the "device" is just a tiny printed map with an LED placed in the middle of it.
- Errors in geography: The film is supposed to be set in Detroit, but during the chase seen where Murphy is following the bank robbers, Reunion Tower in Dallas is clearly visible. Reunion Tower is one of the most prominent features of the Dallas skyline.
- Continuity: When Clarence goes to meet Dick Jones after being attacked at the Drug Factory, Clarence goes into Jones’ office and closes the doors, but the doors come open again. However the next shot of Clarence shows the doors closed.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When we see the police officers on the shooting range, the person shooting in the last booth has his pistol held out straight, and continues to pull the trigger despite the fact that the slide is in the lock and safety position.
- Miscellaneous: When Robocop is first on patrol and he responds to the convenience store robbery, the angle of impact with the suspect is inconsistent with the laws of physics. The suspect, after spending his rounds of ammunition, attempts to run past Murphy's left side, to which Murphy reacts by spinning around and clotheslining the suspect from the front, which would instantly send him to the ground. Yet, in the next shot, the suspect flies face first into the beer cooler several feet away. In order for this to have occurred, Murphy would have had to spin around and strike the suspect from behind, not from front.
- Revealing mistakes: When Clarence flips his 2000SUX into the scrap pond, Anne arrives seconds later and the pool's surface is perfectly smooth, indicating the car has been there long enough for all the waves to subside.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the cops were shooting at RoboCop. Lt. Edgecock tells the cops to "Fall In". But, this does not match his mouth, as if he was really saying "Fall Back".
- Factual errors: When Robocop is in his first patrol at the convenience store, he prevents the robber's shooting by bending the barrel of the gun. In reality, this would have been impossible because the robber was still holding the gun - to create that amount of stress to make the barrel bend like that, the robber would have needed to be as strong as Robocop. Otherwise, the gun would sooner flip out of the robber's arms rather than bend.
- Continuity: When Dick Jones presents to RoboCop, Ed-209, and ordering the machine to kill RoboCop, he states, "I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake, now it's time to erase that mistake." He says it in a very calm voice. However, when RoboCop plays this very clip for evidence near the end, Dick Jones says it in an angry and devastated voice.
- Continuity: When Lewis is pursuing Boddicker in the chase scene at the end of the film, Boddicker has a smashed windscreen. However, when he hits Emil with the car, the windscreen is intact; it then returns to being smashed.
- Continuity: When RoboCop first makes his entrance at the police station, he walks through a set of doors. A few seconds pass, at most. Next thing, the group of officers are sprinting down a long hallway very quickly to "catch up" with him. Given how slow RoboCop walks, there's no way he could have possibly covered that much ground in such a short amount of time.
- Revealing mistakes: When Lewis shot the Cobra Cannon at Leon, the blast is so strong that it takes off one thing with black borders that was probably used to protect the camera.
- Revealing mistakes: In the close up of the cocaine dispensing machine, the glass vial rises up to the nozzle only to be dropped a second later causing most of the cocaine to be released into the air.
>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<
Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Continuity: SPOILER: When Clarence Boddicker leaves a grenade to kill Bob Morton in his house, the timer on the bomb is inconsistent with the actual time of the explosion. In a shot showing Bob Morton struggling to grab it, we can see there's 3 seconds left on the timer, however 3 seconds later, it still hasn't gone off.
- Crew or equipment visible: SPOILER: After Robocop Kills Dick Jones, when he puts his gun away in his leg you can see a pair of feet behind Robocop.
- Continuity: SPOILER: [original cut, not director's cut] While Boddicker's men are shooting Murphy to death, it becomes clear that Murphy's entire arm has been shot off, not just his hand as the previous cut implied.
- Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When Clarence invades Bob Morton's place, he puts in a CD with a recorded video message from Dick Jones on the disc. It appears that the video message starts playing before the disc is even fully inserted into the machine, let alone having a chance to load.
