The definition of just what makes a cult hit has changed in the ten years since Troy Duffy made "The Boondock Saints". The ubiquity of the Internet and the coming-of-age of a generation weaned on the copious amount of very specific information it offers has given almost every piece of media, film or other, its very own cult following.
By information, I mean easier access and smaller audiences. When you say a movie earned itself a cult following by "word of mouth" in 2009, you're typically saying that it fostered early hype thanks to a small but vocal online community, further cultivated through viral marketing. "The Boondock Saints" was the real deal, one of the very last cult movies to find its audience through literal word of mouth.
Throughout 2000 and 2001, college kids and action movie nerds traded this movie around like a secret handshake, something cool shared by those in the know. »

Bigg Boss is trying to catch in with more eyeballs by showing the closeness of Bhaktiyar Irani and Claudia Ciesla. Where as Tanaaz’s reaction towards their proximity is neglected in the scenes.
“Bhaktiyar is trying to get more close to Claudia after the ouster of Kamal R Khan. The channel too was focusing on that just to get the more eyeballs on weekends,” chirps the little birdie.
Elaborating on the stint, our source adds, “Bhaktiyar’s wife Tanaaz being in the house is not making any difference for the actor. Over the top, whether she is objecting or not is not been shown.”

You've gotta love Sylvester Stallone. The guy was a dominant force in '80s cinema, particularly with his iconic Rocky Balboa and Rambo characters. Not to mention debatable classics like "Nighthawks," "Cobra," "Over the Top" and "Tango & Cash." He lost some luster over the next decade, but returned to the public eye once again -- ironically -- when he revisited the roles that made him in "Rambo" (2008) and "Rocky Balboa" (2006).
Now that's he's firmly reestablished himself, the Italian Stallion is turning his attention to other possibilities. We already know he's set to star in director Robert Rodriguez's "The Expendables." Now, speaking to Empire, Stallone also revealed that he's interested in remaking the Charles Bronson-starring classic "Death Wish" in addition to a long-gestating biopic on Edgar Allen Poe.
"I'm thinking about ['Death Wish']," Stallone said. "It's a classic morality tale, where you take a civilized man and take away everything that »

One of the worst-kept secrets at this year's Fantastic Fest was the identity of Secret Screening #1. A website mix-up revealed images from the film weeks before the festival, and even though they were quickly removed the damage had already been done. Word spread across the interwebs that festival-goers should expect a surprise from Japan this year. More specifically we knew that the director of The Machine Girl was returning with a new mechanized heroine, and that this time she'll be packing more firepower than just an arm cannon. There will be swords and shurikens launching from between ass cheeks, breasts will be transformed into machine guns, and a building will transform into a gigantic robot of mega destruction... and the movie that gives all of that to us will be called Robogeisha! Two sisters are leading opposite lives. One is in training to become a geisha and is privy to all that the lifestyle expects. The »

Well, you know your options are pretty limited when Crank 2: High Voltage and Dance Flick are the two biggest DVD releases for the week. Not only that, but if you're really dying to see Dance Flick, you'll need a Blu-ray player because the standard DVD isn't out until a few months later. Also hitting stores this week is Alex Rivera's indie sci-fi film Sleep Dealer, the fifth season of NBC's The Office, and the inaugural seasons of Fringe, Parks and Recreation and Important Things with Demetri Martin. If Dance Flick wasn't enough to convince you, however, there's another reason why this will be the week that Blu-ray truly catches on: Sylvester Stallone's Over The Top. To quote Lincoln Hawk: "When you want something, you gotta take it." Dance Flick [1] (Blu-ray) Crank 2: High Voltage [2] (DVD, Blu-ray [3]) Sleep Dealer [4] (DVD, Blu-ray [5]) Valentino: The Last Emperor [6] (DVD, Blu-ray [7]) I'll »

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed This week is a little light in terms of quality new releases, but there are a ton of new Blu-ray catalog titles hitting the shelves, which I have listed in the "Even More" section at the end, so don't overlook those. Crank 2: High Voltage I just reviewed the Blu-ray edition, which you can read right here, but to tell it to you simply, Crank 2 isn't very good and this is coming from someone that really liked the first one. However, it does have a solid group of supplements, but is it worth buying a DVD or Blu-ray just for the supplements if you don't like the movie? Requiem for a Dream [Blu-ray] I also just reviewed this one, which you can read right here. There really is no short version way to discuss this movie, or at least »

It's no secret that we're big fans of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" around Splash Page HQ, and it just so happens that we're big fans of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, too.
In fact, that's why we found this little item so interesting.
In an interview with Wired, longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, who played the character in "Arkham Asylum" as well as "Batman: The Animated Series" and nearly every other animated iteration, was asked what he thought of the controversial growl favored by "The Dark Knight" actor Christian Bale for his performances. His response was, well... surprisingly frank.
“I thought Christian was excellent as Bruce Wayne, but I didn’t understand his choices there," said Conroy. "I thought it was over the top and distracted from his scenes as Batman. I’m not sure what they were going for there. But, what do I know?”
