Trivia:
At the end of the film, the credits list: "For Annie", who is the little girl sitting in the vet's office at the end (with her dog). This is actually Annie Meyers-Shyer, daughter of the directer Charles Shyer. In Disney's 1996 version of The Parent Trap, which was directed by Charles Shyer's wife, Nancy Meyers, the twins played by Lindsay Lohan in the film were named after the real Annie Meyers-Shyer and her sister, Hallie Meyers-Shyer. However, at the end of this film, the credits list "For Hallie" instead. moreGoofs:
Revealing mistakes: Two of the news blurbs have identical text, just with different headlines. moreQuotes:
J.C. Wiatt: Now look. There is nothing in the world to get uptight about. We are two summa cum laudes. We can handle one little baby for eight hours. moreSoundtrack:

This movie made me about as uncomfortable as any movie in recent memory; it's hard to tell where comedic exaggeration about neurotic working women stops and truly offensive stereotyping begins, but I suppose it works well enough as a mechanical, echt-80's fantasia wherein competent career woman Keaton discovers her life is meaningless without a little one (who, by the way, is curiously forgotten by the movie about midway through). It ruins nothing to say that the shrew ends up well and truly tamed. The most amusing aspect of the movie by far is the "why in God's name am in this movie?" look on Sam Shepard's face. Incredible, the Myers/Shyer movies only got worse. Keaton tries her hardest.
