Revamp of This Was Somewhat Better, 11 December 2000
Author: hillari from Chicago, USA
The first version of this show wasn't very funny. It had also been done a thousand times before--a dead man gets a second chance at redemption. When it became Boys Will Be Boys, it was somewhat better. I think Matthew Perry was a lot funnier on this show than he is on Friends. Booch was a Fonzie ripoff. Not great TV, but an okay time waster for what it was.

it might have been better..., 23 July 2001

The fantasy element worked to a degree in this show, with a deceased man being sent back in time to guide the teenage version of himself on the straight and narrow. I liked it when I watched it, and it could have gotten better with more episodes.
Heart vs Debauchery, 20 May 2007
Author: datalorev from United States
The first version of this show was more family TV where the second incarnation of this show was raunchy TV. It tried to ride the coattails of Married With Children with its edginess, but it had no creativity. I liked the original version better when it had heart.
The first version of this show was about an angel trying to earn his wings by helping a young boy. This was a FOX show that aired in the network's infancy. FOX was trying to find its niche in the market. When FOX realized that its demographics were teenagers, it changed the setup of this show. It dropped the angel totally and made it a racy show in the vein of Married with Children. Neither versions did well so they dropped the show after one season.
Interesting for it's time I guess, 30 April 2006

I think the one thing I remember from the pilot episode was before Chazz appears before Saint Peter, Moammar Khadaffy does. He was the "bad guy" in the world if you remember. Anyway I remember Saint Peter sending him to hell to spend an eternity being blown up.
Then there was the "future" money Chazz had with President Travolta on it. It might have meant John Travolta, I don't know....but I never saw anything past the pilot episode. "No more of that Travolta money okay" - younger Chazz
I guess it had potential but if the idea is done over and over and over again....wasn't there like a meter on the wall with an arrow that pointed where the person was gonna go?
