Vampire Diaries star takes trip to Cradlewood

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder will star in Cradlewood, a Gothic fantasy being produced by Hand Picked Films and Instinct Entertainment. He’ll co-star opposite Australian actress Emma Lung (soon to be seen in Christopher Smith’s Triangle) for director Harry Weinmann, who was previously an FX artist on films ranging from Lifeforce to Race To Witch Mountain.

Breeders (1986 - A Look Back)

Breeders is an interesting twist on the old school invasion theme. Plenty of New York’s virgin women are being accosted by mysterious strangers. Even worse, these bold confrontations quickly escalate into full blown rape. None of the sexual assault victims are killed, but there’s a downright terrifying man in a lubricated rubber suit running around randomly killing plenty of other New Yorkers (including a homeless woman… come on you heartless bastards). These women aren’t killed because, obviously - they’re carriers, just bodies with the sole purpose of reproduction. One of NYPD’s… finest, Detective Andriotti (Lance Lewman) enlists the assistance of Dr. Gamble Pace (Teresa Farley), who’s been monitoring the incoming rape victims, to aide him in solving this strange puzzle.

There are plenty of minor plot details that ultimately sew the loose fabrics together, but most of those details are so goofy they’re worth not reading about. »

Or maybe you know how it used to go. Get up wicked early, pour a massive bowl of cereal and hunker down for a good five solid hours of cartoon programming. From 7am to noon you could find all manner of colorful adventure but like most communities, noon time rolled around and it was time for kids to go outside and play so the grown ups could catch the weekend edition of the news or candlepin bowling. I could never decide if I consider Tobe Hooper a hack or not. I know a lot of his films are flawed, but for some reason I always find myself watching movies like Eaten Alive and Lifeforce over and over. I'm kind of obsessed with a lot of stuff he has done, and never thought I would say I would be interested in seeing a remake of any of his films. However, after reading Dean Koontz's version of The Funhouse, I realized how much better that movie could have been. So when I read Eli Roth's idea on how he would want to remake it I was instantly sold. »

Wrong Turn 3 director Declan O’Brien will be previewing his new Fox DVD splatter sequel at the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. O’Brien (pictured below with friend), the director of the Sci Fi Channel original movies Rock Monster, Monster Ark and Cyclops, will debut exclusive clips from Wrong Turn 3 (about another group of lost travelers facing off against inbred hillbilly maniacs) at the convention on Sunday.

In addition to his directing chores, O’Brien has also scripted Harpies, The Snake King and Savage Planet for Sci Fi. Stop by this site again over the next couple of days as we begin posting the full schedules (auditorium panels and film programs) for the Fango show.

30 Days Of Night actor Ben Foster (pictured below), star of the upcoming sci-fi thriller Pandorum, has joined the lineup of the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. Monster metalheads Gwar will be invading the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. Bandmates Sleazy P. Martini, Slave, Jizmak Da Gusha and Oderus Urungus will be on hand all three days (at their “human skin” booth), and host a panel on Sunday in their human guises (Don Drakulich, Matt Maguire, Brad Roberts and Dave Brockie).

Friday The 13th’s Mrs. Voorhees, actress Betsy Palmer, and her “son,” Jason actor Kane Hodder from the series’ seventh through 10th installments, have joined the lineup of the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. The event will be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. Liz Smith, reporting on behalf of Variety, is hearing through the grapevine that Oliver Stone ( Natural Born Killers , W ) is circling a big screen version of "Helter Skelter." The director is currently "in talks" with Vincent Bugliosi, the prosecuting attorney during the Charles Manson trial. Nothing is confirmed, however. Stone revisiting the '60s and taking on Manson? Feels like a natural choice. "Skelter" was made into a tele-film in 1976, with Steve Railsback ( Lifeforce ) as Manson, and again in 2004, this time starring Jeremy Davies. Jim Van Bebber also made a pretty haunting Manson film of his own entitled The Manson Family . »

Hellboy movies director Guillermo del Toro has joined the lineup of the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. The event will be held June 5-7, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. One of the most celebrated genre directors of our time, del Toro will be appearing at the convention on Friday (5 to 7 p.m. only) for an exclusive stage appearance and to sign copies of his first novel, the vampire epic The Strain: Book One Of The Strain (coming June 2 from William Morrow), with co-author Chuck Hogan.
