A bit more video content has come out of this year's Afm, this time for the horror/comedy known as Dahmer Vs. Gacy, which promises to leave blood on the walls and laughs in your belly!
Foy first told us about this flick back in August (click here for that story). Here are a few more plot details: A secret government lab has been trying to create the ultimate killer using the DNA of infamous killers, but there's one big problem: They've escaped! Bloody mayhem stretches across the United States as they go on the ultimate killing spree. Trying to stop the maniacal madness is Ringo, a hick warrior being trained by God, using only a shotgun and a bottle of whiskey. In his road trip to hell, he must first fight off his own demons, not to mention an army of Japanese ninjas! It all leads up to the Ultimate Showdown! »

I set out to create a list of the most memorable horror songs, which slowly morphed into a collection of the most memorable end credit horror songs. And now I suppose it’s a list of the ten most memorable 80s end credit horror songs. But I didn’t set out with that as a guideline. It just sort of happened that way. In looking over this list now, I’m left to wonder why nobody puts much effort into the end credits music these days. Since it’s the last impression the viewer has of a film, why not make it memorable?
That’s what these songs have in common.
Some are genuinely cool while others are downright baffling, but I’ve never forgotten them. Even the head scratchers. For your listening pleasure, I’ve included links to all the songs should you need a refresher. And, as always, »

It's the season for scary movies - bad scary movies, good scary movies, campy scary movies, any kind of scary movie. And depending on what cable company you subscribe to, there are plenty of free offerings right now on demand.
FearNet is the obvious go-to place for freebies, although it has its detractors hanging around this blog. One of the best choices available now is Return of the Living Dead III. Unless you're a hardcore horror geek, you may not know this one. And the plot -- a young couple near a military base are torn apart when she becomes one of the living dead -- may not sound exciting. But the first zombie onscreen is convincingly freaky, and the surprise ending is actually kind of a surprise.
FearNet also has Severed Ties, in which a severed arm comes back to life as a reptilian killing machine. And who doesn't »

I was handed this scrappy-looking DVD with a partial eyeroll and a shoulder shrug. Looking at the rinky-dink website with no salient journalism information (Photos? Runtime?) caused even less excitement. A sequel to 2007's "Caesar and Otto" (No? You haven't heard of it either?), Caesar and Otto's Summer Camp Massacre looked like it was going to be porn without the porn. Imagine my elation on discovering that writer/director/producer/star Dave Campfield is talented and well-versed in the language of film.
Despite the DVD cover and website doing the movie no favors, Caesar and Otto's Summer Camp Massacre is actually a funny broad comedy, with bigger appeal than the niche horror-comedy crowd it is being marketed to. It is directed and edited with such panache that I could see it appealing to many fans of the Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler ilk who wouldn't and don't »

Freddy’s at it again. There’s no surprise there as the real world doesn’t understand that he basically exists in both worlds, yet if you try to throw a punch at his face, you’re not likely going to hit him. And if you do, you might break his jaw or peel some burnt flesh off his cheek, but a minute later after unleashing a humorous quip, he’ll laugh it off and slice you for the trouble. That’s our beloved Freddy Krueger though. No matter how bad you think you are... he’s badder.

With nearly 200 t-shirts in my collection, I consider myself an expert on the shirt trade. From a vintage “Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengeance” tour shirt to my “I ♥ La” shirt that seemed like a good idea at the time, I’ve thrown countless paychecks into acquiring a collection that you would think the ladies would find impressive. So when the chance to review TheGrind-House.com’s cult movie t-shirt line came along, I jumped at the chance if only to score a few extra T’s for my collection.

The Horror Chick Heather Wixson took a brief vacation so there was a delay in all of her Breath of Hate goodies. But fear not; she's back, and we've got Day Eight right here for you!
On the eighth day of shooting, the set was filled to the brim with lots of new and familiar faces, including Sleepaway Camp actress Felissa Rose, who was about two weeks away from her due date while working on set. She was such a trooper, she even allowed herself to get tied up for a scene in the back of The Horror Chick's car. We also got to meet a few more of the "bad kids" including Selma (Monique Parent) and Cleb (Ricardo Gray), and director Sean Cain took his turn at doing some of the behind-the-scenes footage himself. Prepare to see Heather run from the camera!
Written and produced by Wes Laurie, Breath of Hate stars Ezra Buzzington, »

Kids suck. Everyone knows this. They're noisy, they smell, they ruin sex lives and movie going experiences. But that's in the real world. Kids in the movie world are far, far worse. They're sickeningly cute, they say the darnedest things, and they somehow survive every situation no matter how fucking implausible. I mean seriously, kids are easy targets. In the middle of the African jungle, kids don't accidentally stumble out of the way of the lion. The lion eats the kid. Or kills it for sport. Don't even get me started on Velociraptors. Kids are slow, stupid, and delicious. Any kid entering Jurassic Park ever is nothing more than a snack. So why don't movies reflect this reality? Why aren't more kids biting the big one? I'm not advocating dropping a house on some fat kid in a Pixar movie and having his brain squirt out of his ankles. But in big boy adult movies, why »

As you’ve heard by now, either from last week’s “The Good, The Bad and the Wtf” entry or from another source, that Rob Zombie is planning to remake The Blob. The announcement came on the same day as the release of Zombie’s latest film Halloween II—a sequel to a remake of a shambling franchise.
Four years ago, I considered Rob Zombie a visionary talent and a promising filmmaker. Now I’m left wondering what the hell happened. After The Blob, what’s next? Blob II? Then a remake of Sleepaway Camp?
This is the same Rob Zombie who was against this sort of thing earlier in his career, and sought to bring original characters into familiar genres. Sure, his House of 1,000 Corpses cribs a-plenty from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but there’s enough of Zombie’s own colorful vision and wild inventions to separate it from outright cashgrabs like the 2003 remake. »

Godzilla fought King Kong. Alien battled Predator. Freddy faced off with Jason. Mega Shark duked it out with Giant Octopus. Now we're about to get Dahmer Vs. Gacy. No, it isn't the ultimate Ulli Lommel crossover movie. It's a horror comedy that pits two of the most notorious serial killers of all time against each other and unscrupulous rogue military scientists. Set your taste buds to tasteless.
A secret government program is cloning infamous serial killers and genetically splicing their DNA into a super serial killer for undisclosed purposes. Ultra low budget indie genre movie mainstays Ford Austin and Randal Malone star as the resurrected Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy, respectively. Dahmer Vs. Gacy, also directed by Ford Austin, is slated to be the first of five underground Grindhouse-style films produced by Angry Baby Monkey Pictures. The film is currently in post-production and gearing up for select independent film festivals. »

Are you really confused by the The Sleepaway Camp sequels? You probably should be, and the sad part is I really do not know if I understand it all myself, but I will try to explain it anyway. Basically the Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit -- a boxset collecting the first three Camp movies -- came with a bonus DVD that featured scenes from a fourth and unfinished movie titled, Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor. It seemed like the plans for that sequel were scrapped and in 2008 the original director, Robert Hiltzik, released Return to Sleepaway Camp, and announced plans to make Sleepaway Camp Reunion 3D. Basically ignoring the fact that Michael A. Simpson made Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland. »

Three years ago producer/writer Anthony Masi took on the legacy of Haddonfield’s most infamous resident, Michael Myers, in his documentary Halloween: 25 Years of Terror (review here). The very same year he produced a retrospective on Bob Clark’s cult horror classic Black Christmas. How does someone follow that up? By taking horror fans back to Camp Crystal Lake with a new documentary, His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th..
“Everyone knows who Jason is. He’s so iconic that it’s not even just horror fans that know who he is. He’s almost like Santa Claus, really,” said Masi. “The hockey mask alone is now just a symbol of what Jason is in terms of the pop culture lexicon. While considering Jason’s legacy, the 30th anniversary of the first film and the reboot film coming out, we just knew the timing was right »

Don’t let the title Silent Night, Zombie Night fool you. While writer/director Sean Cain is clearly paying homage to the campy 80s slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night, there’s nothing campy about his latest film.
“Snzn is really the story of three people who emotionally fall apart and come together during a zombie pandemic,” explained Cain. “So while yes, the movie is about zombies, it’s really about these three people dealing with their own issues during a horrific ordeal.”
Taking place a week before Christmas, Snzn is about a viral outbreak that’s unleashed, turning La citizens into the feral undead. While facing the devastating effects of the outbreak, Lapd officer Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito) is also faced with the decision of whether or not to leave both his wife Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) and his partner Nash (Andy Hopper).

It’s early December 2008 and in the a.m. when Fango arrives on the set of writer/director/producer Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night. And while there isn’t, at first, much to distinguish this seldom-traveled area of North Hollywood, CA from similar areas of the San Fernando Valley, a certain house on the corner—and its copiously blood-splattered facade—let this scribe know he’s in the right place.
