In the beginning of the film there is a surprising scene where a man pulls out a pistol and shoots Ghandi several times, with bullet holes showing.

A British platoon open fire on a peaceful demonstration crowd. Many, many people are killed (among them women and children) The scene is not graphic at all, but very intense. We hear that over 1,000 people were killed

Ghandi is beaten several times.
