Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Since fantasy is Xanadu's dominant trait, certain mattes, including a couple of time-lapsed cloud effects matted over the departure along the highway of one of the muses, and another matted above Gene Kelly as he sits on a beach playing a clarinet, don't look 100% realistic. This was intentional, done with the hope that the various sequence take a mythical ambiance that looks unreal, rather than phony. more
Goofs:
Continuity: In "Whenever You're Away From Me" Kira and Danny begin to dance in front of a large wall mirror, yet in the next shot it has completely vanished, and they are just dancing in front of a plain white wall. more
Quotes:
Danny McGuire: [after Sonny drives off of the edge of the pier] You're a real Errol Flynn, kid... what else do you do? more

The best movie ever made, 19 November 2005
10/10
Author: caneycreekgirl from United States

Despite all of its critics, I still think this is the best movie ever made. What a great escapism fantasy. The music of ELO, the fantastic costumes, the overall Art Deco feel, the hair, the skating!!! If only the world was as positive and innocent as this movie. I've watched it over 100 times and still find something in it that I haven't seen before every single time I watch it. It is my treat to myself whenever my husband has a "boy's night out." Then I am the greatest singer and dancer in the world, this side of ON-J, of course. When I first watched it in the movie theater (4 times the first week it was out -- LOL!) I never realized what an impact it would have on my life.
