'Gossip Girl' recap: Serena and Tripp get closer and...Dorota's knocked up!

4 hours ago | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

In lieu of bread crumbs, last night’s Thanksgiving-themed Gossip Girl was stuffed with pregnancies, elevator grab-ass, and a really inappropriate onesie. Still, I’m sure the Pilgrims would have enjoyed this Upper East Side feast; there had to be at least a few teen soap fans on the Mayflower. The big entrée was Serena’s relationship with the most boring man in New York, aka Tripp Vanderbilt. I honestly don’t get why Serena would choose this dude over Nate. He’s a snooze and he has Conan O’Brien hair. Also, is it just me or does it »

This Week On DVD and Blu-ray: December 1, 2009

I guess the next three DVD/Blu-ray previews I write up could also be looked at as potential gift guides as we are now counting our way down to Christmas. Perhaps you'll find a little something for yourself as well as someone on your list. Let's get into it...

A Christmas Tale (Criterion Collection) I just posted my review of the Blu-ray edition and it's a film I am already interested in revisiting and expect I will have a different reaction to each time. As it stands I enjoyed it, but wasn't completely bowled over and in terms of special features this one is a bit light when it comes to Criterion standards with only a making-of interview featurette and Desplechin's 2007 documentary about the selling of his family home, which is actually quite good. Rihanna Gears Up for the Shooting of 'Hard' Video

12 hours ago | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

It won't be long until Rihanna hit the set of the music video for her second single "Hard". The 21-year-old singer reportedly is going to shoot for the video within the next few days, and she has been spotted arriving at Lax airport with her Bff Melissa on Monday, November 30 after a flight from London.

The filming of the music video will be done before she goes to New York City for JetBlue concert held on December 3. According to Just Jared, director Anthony Mandler who has directed many of Rihanna's previous videos will not serve behind the lens for this music video. Instead of him, helmer Melina Matsoukas will take on the role behind the camera.

"Hard" is the second official single off Rihanna's fourth studio album "Rated R". Produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, it features rapper Young Jeezy. The track had been debuted on radio back »

Allan Hyde and his friend Hadleyk

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear. Yes, we're serious.

Because we all previously enjoyed seeing Allan Hyde (Godric in True Blood) in his wolf T-shirts, above we have a still from a short film he did with his buddy Hadleyk called Smile. Hadleyk seems to film a lot of silliness and post it on his website. While Smile is safe for work, some of the videos he tweets definitely are not. And I'm not paying your therapy bills if you watch them. The abs in the teaser photo belong to Taylor Lautner, the 17-year-old werewolf from Twilight. He's had a weird week. His movie made another $66 million, setting another record. And he was on the cover of Rolling Stone, but the interviewer kept asking him if he was gay. And apparently, »

'SNL' Hires Writer Jessi Klein

16 hours ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

By Jezebel

NBC reportedly has added well-regarded comedian Jessi Klein to the writing staff at "Saturday Night Live."

The addition of Klein brings the number of women on the show's writing staff (not including performers, who also write) to at least three. And while it's not totally unheard of for the show to staff up midseason, it's hard not to see Klein's addition as part of a welcome response by a late-night show to the recent media attention it has gotten for a dire lack of female writers.

New TV on DVD releases this week

17 hours ago | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

It's funny how there are some weeks where there's 20 or so different DVD sets released but I won't see any sets that I want. And then there are weeks like this when there are only a handful of DVDs being released but I somehow want two or three of them.

The new Mystery Science Theater 3000 set (with The Corpse Vanishes, Warrior of the Lost World, Night of the Blood Beast, Santa Claus, two shorts, four lobby cards, and a collectible Tom Servo figurine) is a definite, and I might get Better Off Ted too, though I want to watch a few more episodes before I make up my mind.

Amy Poehler Advises Working Moms: ‘Do Your Best’

Good friends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have more in common than their status as Saturday Night Live alums.

In a new interview with TV Guide, the 38-year-old Parks and Recreation star says that it is their role as moms — Tina to 4-year-old Alice Zenobia, and Amy to 13-month-old Archibald ‘Archie’ William Emerson — which keeps them bonded.

“We talked a lot about how we’re both working long hours with kids,” she shares before joking,

“Our emails and texts are mostly about formula and nannies.”

What Should 'New Moon' Star Taylor Lautner Do On SNL? Hollywood Crush Has Some Ideas...

19 hours ago | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From Hollywood Crush: In case you were knee-deep in Stove Top stuffing and green bean casserole last week and missed the news, "New Moon" hottie Taylor Lautner will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" December 12 with musical guest Bon Jovi. Though we, along with many Twilighters, had been campaigning for Robert Pattinson to secure hosting duties, we couldn't be more excited for the 17-year-old to grace the Studio 8H stage. In fact, we've even dreamed up a few sketch ideas for the star. "SNL" scribes, we hope you're listening!

1. The inevitable "Twilight" parody

We know it's going to happen, the only question is how will it? Though several humorous scenarios ran through our minds (Taylor as vampire!), the one that tickled our funny bones the most was seeing Taylor cast as Bella Swan (just like his maybe girlfriend Taylor Swift was when she hosted!). I mean, come on, he already has the wig for it! »

Taylor Lautner's Abs to Host Saturday Night Live

Better warm up the TiVo, Team Jacob; Us Magazine reports that New Moon hunk Taylor Lautner will be testing out his comedic chops on December 12, as the host of Saturday Night Live. (Apparently, SNL's attempts to woo Lautner's co-star, Robert Pattinson, have so far fallen flat.) The questions abound: Do you think Lautner has the sense of humor to pull off the gig? Do you think T-Laut will spoof his classic The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D? Perhaps most importantly, how many skits do you think will require Taylor to doff his shirt? The Drapers Jon and January Go Their Separate Doggie Ways

28 November 2009 7:00 AM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

January Jones and Jon Hamm were both spotted walking their dogs out in La earlier this week. At the end of the third season of Mad Men, Betty and Don Draper were at a turning point and for now the acting duo is spending their hiatus time in different ways. Jon just finished up filming The Town in Boston with Ben Affleck, and he's already started on another movie. January meanwhile is working some and taking it easy after her SNL hosting gig, sexy photo shoots, and red carpet appearances. They're both in high demand these days after all the acclaim their show has gotten and even while it's off the air, it still provides pearls of wisdom. Eddie Murphy: a defence

27 November 2009 9:43 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Saying you still love Eddie Murphy is the last taboo. But stick with me ...

For all that blogging has, at least partly, grown up around saying the unsayable, that is not the point of what follows. I am not here to defend the intentions behind Norbit, or reclaim The Adventures of Pluto Nash as a landmark in cult cinema. I will, however, gladly state that the star of each is capable of greatness. Yes, I will publicly declare that I still love Eddie Murphy.

Of course, it's a fondness that's been severely tested over the years. But through every Holy Man and Haunted Mansion I've kept faith with the talent of the man. Now, according to the trade papers, he is potentially making a return to comedies made for those who can tie their own shoelaces in a film called The Misadventures of Fluffy, a project that it's said will »

Taylor Lautner and James Franco: Who will be a better 'SNL' host?

26 November 2009 11:45 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

When SNL announced yesterday that James Franco and Taylor Lautner would be hosting in December, I had one thought: Man, I would love to see these two wrestle. Just kidding: I thought man, James Franco is going to obliterate poor Taylor Lautner and his biceps of teenwolf lust. In Lautner's defense, he'll be one of the youngest hosts the show has ever had -- a few months shy of his 18th birthday puts him among the 10 youngest. I'm worried that we might have a January Jones redux on our hands, though: Lautner is famous for one and only one thing, »

Thanksgiving parade: Who's thankful for lip-syncing?

Happy Turkey Day, PopWatchers! This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade had a few new balloons, a revamped Santa float, and more NBC promos and placements than I can wrap my head around. Highlights Broadway! I'm a sucker for a show tune, and it was kind of nuts to see Hair being performed outside Macy's. My conflicting cultural institutions, let me show you them! John Stamos' Bye Bye Birdie performance, while, yeah, horribly lip-synced, was still charismatic and cute, and Billy Elliot and Shrek were completely serviceable. Fun times. Happy Thanksgiving to all! This year we thought we would take sometime to look at ten of the films we are most thankful for. They might not be the best movies of the year, as this is not the point of the list, but rather the ones that we really enjoyed and are thankful for being made, thankful for their lessons, thankful for their addition to a series and whatever other reasons we can give for being thankful for these movies. Some of these movies you may have not seen and there is some movies in 2009 we have yet to see that we know we will be thankful, one in particular, Avatar. We hope that you all have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

On 'SNL' Holiday List: Taylor Lautner and James Franco

25 November 2009 6:37 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

NBC has announced three sets of host-musical guest partnering for the December episodes of "Saturday Night Live". Calling them the holiday editions, the variety show makes use of the buzz created by "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" and "General Hospital" to tap Taylor Lautner and James Franco.

Lautner who portrays wolf Jacob Black in the "Twilight" sequel will be on to host the December 12 live show accompanied by Bon Jovi. This would be the first time for the young actor and the fifth for the rock band. It is still unclear what Lautner will do but as for Bon Jovi, they will perform the songs from their latest No. 1 album "The Circle".

Franco will take over the following week on December 19 with Muse as his partner. The wide screen actor is selected most likely because he is coming for lengthy guest star appearances on soap opera "General Hospital". He also »
