Fun Stuff

Trivia:

Parts of the film were rewritten after actor Robert Walker (John Jefferson) died during production. Several scenes use a double shot from behind, and others recycle footage of Walker from Strangers on a Train (1951). The final scene, where a recording of John delivers an anti-communist speech, is lit with a halo around the tape-recorder. more

Robert Walker "dies" three times between "Strangers on a Train" and "My Son John", and in real life., 23 November 2004

I wonder if critics would be so critical of this film if its theme were anti-fascism instead of anti-communism?

Some may not realize that, in a way, Robert Walker dies three times between "Strangers on a Train" and "My Son John." He dies at the end of the former film, he dies in real life (28 August 1951)in the middle of filming "My Son", and "My Son" uses his re-cycled death scene from "Strangers" by way of back-drop projection.

Where did recent commentators on this film get to see it? I had to go to the National Archives in Washington, DC for my viewing, one reel at a time, with cloth gloves.
