(1934) Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers take headline billing in the romantic escape about a woman (Rogers) determined to divorce a philandering husband by faking an affair and a Romeo (Astaire) who would love to make the phony affair real. The film introduces the songs "The Continental" (which launches the film into a 17-minute dance number) and Cole Porter's masterpiece "Night and Day." Alice Brady and Everett Horton co-star and Mark Sandrich directs.

Roberta (1935), an adaptation of the 1933 Broadway hit, co-stars Irene Dunne and Randolph Scott. Astaire is a psychiatrist and Rogers a wedding-phobic patient in Carefree (1938), with an Irving Berlin score including "Change Partners." And they made their final appearance together for 10 years in The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle (1939), the musical biographical drama about the real-life King and Queen of the Ballroom that co-stars Edna May Oliver and Walter Brennan.
