This is from the guy that wrote the music for the tv show HERCULES. I have to keep telling myself that because it is so hard to believe. The soundtrack is so far beyond that lame tv show that it beggars belief.

BROTHERHOOD is a fine French fantasy film that crosses genres; historical epic, kung-fu actioner, fantasy horror. The music also does this balancing act, while weighting it with an ethnic base that grounds the film in reality. There is haunting material here, particularly the love theme. Towards the end the music reaches heights that put it in the same league of the LORD OF THE RINGS scores by Howard Shore.

Oddly enough this cd has had limited availabilty in the UK, which is unfair. This music deserves greater recognition as one of the better scores of this decade. I'd recommend this to film music fans wholeheartedly, even if the film itself, with its bizarre scenario, does not appeal at all.
