Find My Family: Mixed Premiere Ratings; Cancel or Keep It?
27 November 2009 1:47 PM, PST
ABC quietly unveiled a new reality series on Tuesday night. Like the network's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series, Find My Family had audience members reaching for the tissues by the box. But, more importantly for the show's future, how did it do in the ratings?
Hosted by Tim Green and Lisa Joyner, Find My Family helps people reconnect with family members after being separated for many years. The emotional reunions take place on-camera and in front of a place known as the "Family Tree."
Following the performance finale of Dancing with the Stars, the premiere of Family attracted 12.76 million viewers and a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those numbers look okay on their own but its significant that the series lost about 40% of its lead-in audience. ABC can't be happy about that.

Lie to Me: Fox Gives Drama Full Season Order; Good or Great News?
27 November 2009 11:38 AM, PST
Though its performance hasn't been stellar, Fox has finally ordered a full season of Lie to Me. What does this mean for the sophomore drama's future?
Lie to Me follows Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth), a human lie detector, and his team of experts who help law officials solve their most difficult cases. The cast also includes Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Mekhi Phifer, and Monica Raymund.
The dramatic series is currently in a plum spot on the Fox schedule, sitting behind successful House on Monday nights. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold onto much of the Hugh Laurie show's audience. This past week, for example, House was first in the 18-49 demographic (4.6) and second in total viewers (11.95 million), opposite the Dancing with the Stars finals. Lie to Me shed 40% of the lead-in audience in both areas, attracting a 2.7 and 7.16 million. »

Cold Case: Sunday Experiment Significantly Boosts Ratings, Is It Enough?
26 November 2009 5:56 AM, PST
As solid as most of CBS' schedule looks, the network has been having trouble with their Sunday night schedule.
Both Three Rivers and Cold Case have been under-performing and are expected to be cancelled. Three Rivers hasn't been given a full season order and it looks like it will end after 13 episodes in January. Cold Case has a full season order of 22 episodes but it’s not likely to be renewed for an eighth season next May.
CBS decided to try an experiment this week and switched the shows' timeslots. The result? Well, Three Rivers didn't benefit by the experiment but Cold Case did.
Sunday night, Three Rivers brought in just a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.888 million viewers. That's down from last week and essentially par for the course.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Seinfeld Reunion Great for HBO Ratings
25 November 2009 8:31 AM, PST
With all of their ratings woes, there's no doubt that NBC would love to have a real Seinfeld reunion to put on their schedule. After Sunday's Seinfeld-focused season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm, HBO would no doubt like some more Seinfeld as well.
The season finale of Curb drew 1.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched season finale of the Larry David show in five years. When combined with a later repeat showing, the Seinfeld-filled show was watched by two million viewers. The season six finale drew approximately one million.
HBO hasn't announced whether there will be an eighth season of Curb yet. Typically David waits for several months to determine if he wants or has enough material to do another round of episodes.

Sunday marked the conclusion of the seventh season of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. The season's ongoing story arc revolves around a Seinfeld reunion and Larry David's efforts to reunite with his estranged wife, Cheryl (Cheryl Hines).
Cheryl's decided to try acting again and NBC execs have asked Larry to finally put together a Seinfeld reunion. Larry decides that, by agreeing to do the reunion, he'll be able to cast Cheryl and this will hopefully lead to their reconciliation. He successfully ropes Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards in to the project though all have their doubts.
Though things don't go quite as planned, the Seinfeld reunion is made and Larry and Cheryl start to rekindle their relationship.
While the Seinfeld reunion is a subplot of the rest of the Curb backstage action, we do get to »

FlashForward: Production Shuts Down on ABC Drama
24 November 2009 10:04 AM, PST
The ratings for ABC's FlashForward continue to tumble and it would seem that the network is concerned. Production on the series has been temporarily halted.
The work stoppage began last week and will continue through this holiday week. Production on the 13th episode is expected to begin on Monday when the cast and crew return.
ABC says that the break was built into the work schedule and was positioned to "boost the writing." A spokesman said, "They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so."
Of course, it doesn't seem like much of a coincidence that the shut down comes right after FlashForward hit a series low in the ratings. It also follows the departure of Marc Guggenheim as a co-showrunner/executive producer. Co-creator/exec producer David Goyer is now the »
