First Twilight Eclipse Teaser Poster
It.s a big weekend for Twilight fans with Summit dumping everything it has on the internet all at once. Earlier this weekend we had new images from New Moon, a few moments ago we showed off fresh New Moon clips, and now we have the first ever teaser poster for the third Twilight Saga installment, Eclipse. The Eclipse poster below comes from Bloody-Digusting, where you can see it even bigger. »
New Moon Clips: High-Octane Action From Twilight?
Awesome new clips from The Twilight Saga New Moon have just been handed out by Summit. They are surprising for anyone who hasn.t read the books, and expected more of the low key dating of the first movie. Both of the new clips below are flat out action-packed, with boys becoming wolves and vampires engaged in a royal smackdown of the highest order. Edward gets his ass kicked, Bella ends up on the ground and you may need to hold your breath. Check out both clips from The Twilight Saga New Moon below, along with a behind the scenes look at how they made it all happen, and three action-packed New Moon TV spots: Clips And now that you've watched the Volturi fight scene clip, here's a pretty great ... »
A Single Man Trailer: Colin Firth Makes His Oscar Bid
17 hours ago
If you like your footage silent and your quotes aplenty, then you're bound to love the trailer for Tom Ford's A Single Man. Yes, that Tom Ford.the American fashion designer turned Gucci posterboy. Word around town is that Ford single handedly brought Gucci out of near bankruptcy, skyrocketing it to a $4.3 billion value in 1999. Adapted from Christopher Isherwood's novel of the same name, A Single Man is the 48-year-old Austin native's directorial debut. Early reviews have been positive, and the film nabbed itself a cool nomination for a Golden Lion at the 66th Venice International Film Festival. Starring Colin Firth as a gay British professor living in Southern California, the cast rounds itself out quite nicely with support by Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, and Nicholas Hoult. Poised for an Oscar-contending mini-release in December, the film won.t be going wide until early 2010. For a peak at what all »
Why Did I Get Married Too? Trailer Will Have You Screaming
21 hours ago
I'm not sure if I should be comparing Tyler Perry to Adam Sandler or to Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. In regards to the former, both create calculated genre films that pull in expected and respectable numbers for each box office outing. But, in regards to the latter, both work within an overly-formulaic series that.s seemingly churned out by an automaton. Seriously, the sheer speed with which Perry's films are cranked out is frightening.same with the Movie Movies. Lionsgate, the company behind both series, has clearly perfected the formula: markedly tiny budgets and poorly written films poised to exploit built-in audiences. With this said, I am here today to give you fine folks a sneak at Perry's new concoction of awesomeness: the trailer for Why Did I Get Married Too?. The entirety of the original cast has returned for this sequel to Why Did I Get Married (2007), including »
New Moon Images: Bella Needs A Man, Not The Right To Vote
23 hours ago
Summit has just released their full gallery of Twilight Saga New Moon images. Among them you.ll find a lot of new photos, many of them featuring shirtless man candy. To see our full gallery of New Moon images just click right here. But what.s caught my eye isn.t all the shirtless dudes, but the fact that there seems to be a theme here. Look closely and you.ll notice that a disproportionate number of the images released from the movie feature the same thing: Bella being held by a man. It doesn.t really matter which man. But just about every picture Bella.s in, she.s being held, stroked, comforted, cuddled, or otherwise engaged in some intimate fashion by a male whom she leans on and stares at longingly. The images below do a pretty good job of summing up my biggest problem with this franchise: »
John Cusack Thinking About Becoming A Preacher
6 November 2009 3:02 PM, PST
It's been a Long time since we last reported about Sam Mendes' adaptation of Vertigo Comics' Preacher (we're talking January here), but with a subject so enticing and blasphemous, it only takes the mention of the project by a celebrity to get our attention. So guess what happened? John Cusack, in an interview with io9 to promote 2012, casually mentioned that he would be interested in doing the project, should he be asked. How casual are we talking? The interviewer brought up comic book movies, he didn't actually know the title of the comic - he referred to it as a comic about "a vampire and a killer...on the road" - and would really only do it if he could get one of the main roles. Otherwise, he is totally on board. This isn't exactly shattering news, but it is nice to see that the project is still humming »
7 Fantastic Mr. Fox Featurettes Take You Inside Wes's World
6 November 2009 12:31 PM, PST
I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox just this afternoon, and was as surprised as anyone to see that it's actually pretty good-- energetic, funny and silly, with a vibe that's somehow a perfect blend between Wes Anderson's finicky style and a children's film. So if I could come out of this movie as a convert, pretty much anyone could. And now it's high time for me to take a look back at the seven behind-the-scenes featurettes that have appeared all over the Internet in the past few weeks, all of them collected below for your convenience. See George Clooney actually rolling around in the grass as he voices his adventurer character, the tech guys actually explaining how they e-mailed shots from the film to Wes Anderson while he was in Paris, and some stories from the people who were actually on set to make the film. There's also a lot »
Kick-Ass Website Debuts, The Trailer Comes Next Week
6 November 2009 12:11 PM, PST
Yesterday I posted the new character posters for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass and predicted that it wouldn't be long until a trailer popped up online. I wasn't wrong. Lionsgate has officially launched the film's website (iamkick-ass.com), and while it would seem that the site has a few bugs to work out, as the main photo is off-center and cuts off Nicolas Cage in his "Big Daddy" costume (Update: Now Fixed), the most valuable item is towards the bottom, where a countdown clock is ticking down until the trailer's premiere. I'll just save you some trouble and tell you that it will be available on Sunday November 15th at 12:00 Am Est (and we won't be a minute late with it). In other news about the film, Lionsgate has also been holding test screenings and the reviews are nothing short of spectacular, some even calling it the best superhero movie »
Emily Blunt Stars In The New Wolfman Poster
6 November 2009 12:11 PM, PST
Wolfman, the remake of the classic Universal horror film, is about Benicio del Toro as the titular beast, yes. But it's also about the man inside him, his relationship with a character played by Emily Blunt, and his inability to keep from hurting the people he might love. That's the side of the movie being shown off in the movie's new poster, which debuted today at Cinematical. Not a single claw or sharp tooth in sight, just a woman in fear, hiding in a dim forest and prepared to run for her life. Pretty cool, right? I remain skeptical about Wolfman in general, but I love the guts of a poster that outright refuses to show you the horror-show goods. and if this promises an even bigger role for Blunt in the movie, that's good news for pretty much everyone. Check out a larger version of the poster you see »
Ringu Director Hears A Voice From The Stone
6 November 2009 9:08 AM, PST
For those cinema amateurs out there that think America has been on the cutting age of horror filmmaking for the past seven years, think again. 2002's The Ring marked shift in the film industry. A shift from thought and creation, to simply mining other mediums for everything they're worth (which so far has not been much). Now, nine years later, the man who started it all by delivering Ringu to Japanese audiences in 1998, Hideo Nakata, will be direct Voice From the Stone for Zanuck Independent. According to Variety, the supernatural thriller is about a young boy sworn to silence until the spirit of his dead mother returns. Soon, the boy's psychologist becomes the body that his mother possesses in order to come back from the dead. Presumably, her first attempt at returning is in the form of a stone, that the boy hears a voice from, otherwise the title would »
The Origins Of Hal 9000's Singing Revealed
6 November 2009 8:19 AM, PST
Though it's not a horror movie, Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey still contains some of the scariest stuff I have seen in a film. No, I'm not talking about the giant baby, but rather Hal 9000, the on-board computer system of Spaceship Discovery. Because the film was made in 1968, people didn't know that they were supposed to be afraid of computers yet (Terminator was still a few years away), but Hal taught them all a lesson they would not forget. Backed by the unwavering voice of Douglas Rain and represented by a simple red dot, Anthony Hopkins only wishes he could reach that level of terror. One of the most iconic scenes in the film, however, is when Dave Bowman has reached the Cpu and slowly begins to remove Hal's programming (watch it here). As he reaches the end, Hal resorts back to his earliest data: the song 'Daisy Bell. »
If You Want To See Mystery Team, You'll Have To Demand It
6 November 2009 7:57 AM, PST
Audience demand worked for Paranormal Activity, when Paramount had audiences at early screenings register their votes online to get the movie to come to more cities across America. Can it also work for a tiny indie comedy? Mystery Team is going to give it a shot. The first movie from the comedy troupe Derrick Comedy debuted at Sundance to rave reviews (like this one from Josh), and has been screening quietly in college towns all around the country this fall. But if you want to guarantee it comes to your city, you're going to have to demand it. Go to Eventful and register your zip code to demand that the trio of crime-solvers comes to your town. Every vote counts, and as we learned with Paranormal Activity, demands can really have an impact. If you don't know what Mystery Team is, you can either watch our Comic Con interview with »
Bradley Cooper Replaces Shia In Dark Fields
6 November 2009 7:12 AM, PST
Even before he bailed on D.J. Caruso and his plans to make a Y: The Last Man movie, Shia Labeouf was being cagey about his participation in Dark Fields, director Neil Burger's sci-fi project about a drug that can make you smart. Back in 2008 Burger told us he had been planning to shoot that winter but that they'd already hit delays thanks to Labeouf's broken hand. Now they've done the only smart thing and ditched him entirely. Bizarrely, though, they've decided to replace him with Bradley Cooper, who is in no way at all like Labeouf as a screen presence. Still, he's a big name, and big names bring in money. Cooper will play Eddie, a New York writer who received a so-called smart drug and finds himself in a whole world of trouble he couldn't imagine. Burger said in the press release, .I am really delighted that all »
Jeff Bridges Entering The Oscar Race With Crazy Heart
6 November 2009 6:34 AM, PST
Just when it was looking like Fox Searchlight wouldn't be a major part of the Oscar season at all, in comes The Dude to save them. The studio has decided to release the Jeff Bridges vehicle Crazy Heart on December 16, just a few days after screening it for a handful of journalists in Los Angeles, almost all of whom immediately declared Bridges' role "this year's Oscar-winning lead actor turn." Below is the press release that Fox sent out yesterday, which tells you everything you need to know about the movie that's being described as "a country music Wrestler." Regardless of how good the movie is, or even if Bridges' performance doesn't turn out to be better than some of the others this year, there is this fact: Jeff Bridges has never won an Oscar. Maybe this is finally the year we can fix that heinous oversight. Four-time Academy Award® nominee »
Sacha Baron Cohen Becoming An Ambulance Chaser
5 November 2009 11:29 PM, PST
Sacha Baron Cohen is a self-made man, the kind of guy that we all strive to be. He has a hot wife. He has an amazing job. And he uses his job to rebel against whatever establishment is dumb enough to let him film them. He.s a great writer, an underrated actor, and now he.s the owner of a production company. According to Variety, Cohen formed a production company named Four By Two Films. He.ll use the company as an outlet for scripted vehicles for himself, two of which are already planned. Columbia purchased the first, which will be scripted by Cohen and his writing team from Borat and Bruno. The second will be released via Universal and is titled Accidentes. Written by Pete Baynham, the movie will have Cohen playing an ambulance-chasing lawyer who becomes an unlikely hero of the working poor after he wins a »
Twilight's Vampire Sister To Star In The Apparition
5 November 2009 11:22 PM, PST
Unlike the kids of the Harry Potter franchise, it.s becoming apparent that the actors in the Twilight series may have careers outside of playing vampires. Kristen Stewart turned in a great performance early this year in Adventureland and Robert Pattinson was apparently pretty good as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes. Now Edward.s sister is trying to get a piece of the pie as well. According to Variety, Twilight.s Ashley Greene is in talks to star in The Apparition, Todd Lincoln.s ghost story about a young couple who are haunted after they release a spirit during a college experiment. The film is based on .true. events. Lincoln will write and direct. This will be Todd Lincoln.s first project, so it.s hard to say what to expect from it, but haven.t there been enough horror films based on true events? We get it. Strange things »
Tobey Maguire Still Pissed In Brothers TV Spot
5 November 2009 10:10 PM, PST
Oddly enough, watching footage from Brothers reminds me a little bit of Stepfather (with better acting of course). The movie looks much more emotionally intense than I expected it to be. So much so that it almost seems like a horror film. Just look at Tobey Maguire.s bulging vein as he breaks cabinets in his kitchen and asks Jake Gyllenhaal if he had sex with his wife. Or maybe his veins are showing because he weighs 98 lbs. in the movie. The TV spot for the film presents nothing new other than a few bits of new footage peppered into a shorter version of the original trailer. I.m still torn about the depth of the movie. Will this be a flick that has something important to say about post-combat stress and the bonds of family? Or is Tobey Maguire just going to kill some fools? Check out the spot »

A High Fidelity Reunion Will Happen In Vegas
5 November 2009 8:53 PM, PST
High Fidelity is one of the few movies that perfectly articulates the relationship between popular media and our lives. Throw in a career starting performance by Jack Black (for better or for worse) and a cameo by The Boss, and it is a film that stands proudly in many DVD collections. It's been nine years since the film came out, and while one has seen their career rise while the other's somewhat fizzled, it now appears that film's writer and director may be working together again. Director Stephen Frears and writer D.V. DeVincentis, according to THR, are now both attached to Lay the Favorite, a dramedy based on the memoirs of Beth Raymer (the book has a release date of next June). The film will focus on a woman in her thirties (presumably Raymer) who, after making a series of bad life choices, gets involved with a group of ... »
New Kick-Ass Character Posters
5 November 2009 8:13 PM, PST
Having read every issue twice (December can't come soon enough for the final installment) and spent the better part of two years obsessing about the adaptation, Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass is very high on my "most anticipated of 2010" list. While fans have mostly had to survive on bootleg clips from Comic-Con and various production stills, we now have character posters to drool over. IGN has been kind enough to release the promotions which, when put side by side in the correct order, spell out the title of the film and show the four main characters perched on a roof with their back to the camera. Probably my favorite thing about these posters, however, is that instead of featuring the names of the actors it simply gives the characters' secret identities and monikers, which fits in perfectly with the film's raison d'etre. Instead of noticing Nic Cage and McLovin, you just »
