Images of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

29 November 2009 4:39 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Disney may have jumped ship on the Narnia franchise, but 20th Century Fox had no problem picking up the C.S. Lewis series and running with it.  After a lackluster showing for Prince Caspian ($420M worldwide), Fox has their work cut out for them with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Will it be a kiddie seafaring adventure, or will the studio change affect the tone?  I’m hoping for the latter, but fearing the former with these new images.

Official synopsis: This time around – Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their pesky cousin Eustace Scrubb – find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with their royal friend Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) and the warrior mouse Reepicheep (Eddie Izzard), they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, »

First Look At The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the DawnTreader Production Stills

29 November 2009 3:39 PM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

It has been awhile since we had some Narnia news but now we got some really cool production stills from Fox Walden, who is now the studio behind the series. Originally Disney held the Narnia franchise as a co-production with the Walden Media but they decided to dump the series after a mediocre performance from Prince Caspian. FoxWalden, who does a majority of the Walden Media films jumped at the chance to continue the franchise.

The movie will be release on May 7, 2010 and that is something I just do not agree with and believe is what hurt the last release for Disney. Though these are traditionally beloved books globally, I feel these are movies that serve better for winter releases because of the fantasy nature of the films but also the family market it can attract better during the holidays rather than trying to compete with the heavy duty blockbuster movies in early May. »

After kicking off principal photography in Queensland, Australia on July 27, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" has finally lowered its anchor. A day after Thanksgiving, the crew and cast for the film were back to work to complete production of the movie.

"Today, November 27th, 2009, in Australia, is the last day of shooting 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'," so read a statement posted on Chronicles of Narnia facebook page. After this, the Fox Walden's movie project will enter one year of post production before the film is released in the U.S. on December 10, 2010.

A day before, three first official pictures from "Narnia 3" have been released on the same Facebook page. One particular still exposes Georgie Henley's Lucy Pevensie on the Dawn Treader ship. Then, Ben Barnes' King Caspian and Skandar Keynes' Edmund Pevensie are featured in another image. »

The "Chronicle of Narnia" Facebook page has just debuted three brand-new images from Michael Apted's upcoming big-screen adventure "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."

You can check out the stills above and below. The film wrapped principal photography this week down in Australia, and the release date is currently set for Dec. 10, 2010. It's the third film in the "Narnia" series.

The cast includes Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Gary Sweet and Will Poulter. I'm not a big "Narnia" fan and never read the books, so I have no clue what this one's about. »

First Photos from The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

27 November 2009 12:02 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It’s been over ten months since Fox boarded the flagging Chronicles of Narnia franchise and so far news on the fate of the fantasy series has been kind of thin. You may recall that Disney abandoned the Narnia ship after Prince Caspian, the second film in the series, brought in only $400 million worldwide.  That’s what’s called a disappointment in the world of Disney sequels… and a hit in the parlance of Fox. Director Michael Apted is about to wrap production on Narnia 3, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the studio is marking the occasion by showing off their shiny new acquisition via Facebook. Check out three brand new Dawn Treader photos after the jump.

The photos that Fox posted feature Ben Barnes as King Caspian and two of those precocious Pevensie kids - Skander Keynes as Edmund and Georgie Henley as Lucy. We also get a »

First Official Pics From Narnia’s ‘Dawn Treader’

27 November 2009 9:45 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Back in August, we gave you a first glimpse at the ship from the upcoming third Chronicles of Narnia installment, subtitled The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. They weren’t official pics, but rather some taken by the father of one of the bloggers at the Cleveland Point, in Australia, where the Dawn Treader (the ship that’s the focus of the third film) was being constructed.

However, the first official pics from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader appeared online recently and we have them here for your viewing pleasure. They surfaced on the film’s official Facebook page: one of them features the ship’s steering wheel (shown above), while the other two show the characters of King Caspian (played by Ben Barnes), Edmund (played by Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (played by Georgie Henley).

You’ve seen the first image above, now here are the other two. Take »

Its been a while since we have heard much about the world of Narnia. Studio executives screwing with the script, studios buying and selling the property. Nothing much exciting and or positive has hit the feeds until now. We have three new photos from Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader for your Black Friday enjoyment. While nothing ground break or even stunning, they are what they are. First photos from the upcoming Narnia film.

Seen in the below photos are  Ben Barnes as King Caspian and Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie. Also Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie on the Dawn Treader as well. And if you can’t figure out that is the helm of the ship, well I will leave you to your own business.

The very first non-leaked photos from The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader have popped up on the film's Facebook page. They contain, as expected, a giant ornately designed ship that we’ve watched be built over the last few months or so, and also Ben Barnes as King Caspian, who looks like he’s aged a solid ten years courtesy of a new beard. Only Edmund and Lucy are back for this installment, as presumably the older kids are now off partying rather than... »

First Pics From The Dawn Treader

27 November 2009 2:34 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

With principal filming on the third Narnia pic wrapping up in Australia today, it’s time for the post-production bells and whistles on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to get started. Narnia fans get a shiny new production blog to follow, which promises to unleash surprises over the year until release next December, the first lot of which is three new pictures of one of the film’s main whistles, the Dawn Treader herself.A world away from the BBC version’s low-key ship, this Dawn Treader is certainly brandishing its Disney-ness. The pic with Georgie Henley’s Lucy shows a ship that appears to have started life in Enchanted, and Ben Barnes’s (now King) Caspian has puffier sleeves than Cinderella, but the detail on that helm is breathtaking. Production designer Barry Robison reckons around 200 people worked on building the Dawn Treader, all of whom are listed in »

Back in August we revealed the first ever look at The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader via a selection of fan photos which had been taken of the ship in question, today we have the first official photos from the film, courtesy of the official Narnia Facebook page!

The film, which has found itself a new home at Fox since Disney dropped the option, is the third in the series and comes hot on the heels of last year’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, which despite the high budget and marketing costs had a measly $55,034,805 on it’s opening weekend and threw the entire future of the series in doubt.

A late Thanksgiving treat for all of you Chronicles of Narnia fans, if there are any left after Prince Caspian. Over on the official Facebook page for the Narnia movies, three new photos have been released. We posted some spy photos of the ship in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader back in August, but these are the first three official photos and they all look pretty damn cool. Though I'm already getting reminded of Pirates of the Caribbean and I imagine once we see a trailer for this, it'll look a lot more like the Pirates movies. Apparently most of the story takes place on this ship, as seen below. Check 'em out! Seen at the top is the helm of the Dawn Treader. Below is Ben Barnes as King Caspian and Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie. And beneath that is Georgie Henley as Lucy »

Narnia: The Dawn Treader Revealed

26 November 2009 2:10 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Prince Caspian did not have the success of its predecessor, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, but it was a solid fantasy film and it looks as if the third film will build on their foundations.

Comingsoon.net have noted the release of the first production stills via the film’s Facebook pages and they are striking in their design and point to a colourful journey ahead with the Dawn Treader. We see Ben Barnes as Caspian and Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie and Georgie Henley as Lucy as well as the titular Dawn Treader itself.

C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books are beloved by many people and I’m hoping we’ll see director Michael Apted continue to remain faithful to the source material and resist the temptation (and pressure from Fox perhaps) to make Narnia a Lord of the Rings lite/Potter franchise machine.

Everyone is talking about “Wincest,” but it seems that the potential and actual romance between a man and an angel doesn’t get enough focus. That said, the actors definitely have a terrific chemistry together, probably because – and again, »

Sitges ’09: My Sitges Story—Part 7

Friday, October 9

Genre great Clive Barker is the star of Spain’s Sitges ongoing movie orgy today (see last report here and go here for the fest’s official site), as both his new productions, Book Of Blood and Dread, will be unveiled back-to-back at 12:30 a.m. Barker himself will be receiving the event’s prestigious Time Machine award for career excellence and conducting a “Master Class” for festival goers the next day.

I briefly enjoy catching up with Barker and his assistant, Robb Humphreys, in the hotel lounge. It’s unfair of me to bend Barker’s ear for long, though. The man has never been to Sitges before, so it’s time to let the large numbers of Spanish fans and professionals have their own audience with the creator of Hellraiser, Nightbreed and Abarat. I do glean that his Midnight Pictures banner still has a deal to »

Mpc has updated their website with some behind-the-scenes VFX breakdowns of what you can see in “Dorian Gray.”

Dorian Gray (Ben Barnes) is a young man of impossible physical beauty whose portrait painted by the artist Basil Hallward (Ben Chaplin). Drawn into a corrupt and sensual life by the dissolute Lord Henry Wotton (Colin Firth), Dorian remains young and beautiful, while the painting ages in his stead.

The movie directed from the script by Toby Finlay also stars Emilia Fox as Lady Victoria Wotton, Rebecca Hall as Emily Wotton and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Sybil Vane.
