First Look: Adrien Brody & Forest Whitaker in The Experiment

5 November 2009 11:19 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Haven't heard of The Experiment? Don't worry, there are always plenty of great indies you've never heard of! Our friends at Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on a few new photos from The Experiment at Afm. The film, which is a remake of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Das Experiment, is about a group of ordinary people who are chosen to participate in the roles of guards and prisoners in a psychological study that examines how the effects of assigned roles, power, and control affect the participants. Obviously it spins out of control. Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood, Cam Gigandet, Clifton Collins Jr. and Maggie Grace all star in this. I love these types of films. I'm already reminded of The Killing Room, which is another great "experiment" film, and I need to watch the original Das Experiment before this as well. There's also another German film called The Wave that played »

Alan Cumming Is The Emcee For All Time

5 November 2009 7:08 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Is there any doubt that Burlesque is going to be the craziest movie of 2010? It's already got Cher and Christina Aguilera duking it out in the main roles, and Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell and Cam Gigandet, among others, as witnesses to the catfight. Now they've completed the crazy package: Alan Cumming is on board! Better yet, they seem to have brought him in essentially to reprise his Emcee role from Cabaret, which won him a Tony in 1998. Variety describes the role as "the club's gender-bending host and master of ceremonies," which again, is exactly like the Emcee. At least they know he'll be good at it. »

Afm: First Still from The Experiment Remake

5 November 2009 1:15 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

The first official still from the Paul Scheuring directed remake of Das Experiment (review), called simply The Experiment, debuted at Afm today, and the only words that come to mind for us are -- Please. Someone. Anyone. Get Adrien Brody a sandwich. Thanks.

The Experiment stars Adrien Brody, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Cam Gigandet.

For those not in the know the story shows what happens when a research study on a group of ordinary men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners goes terribly out of control. Brody will portray the de facto leader of the prisoners while Whitaker will play a guard who's corrupted by the power he's given. If you're unfamiliar with the actual Stanford Prison Experiment, click here to read all about it.

3 November 2009 11:55 PM, PST | TVStar | See recent TVStar news »

Who doesn't love a woman with issues? Maggie Grace played the scorned rich girl turned poor after her father suddenly died on the ABC hit show Lost. Having to con her way through life, Shannon Rutherford finds a way to trick her stepbrother Boone into giving her everything she wants. It helps that Boone is in love with her and would do anything for his stepsister. Juicy, right? Things only heat up when the survivors of Flight 815 crash on a deserted island and Shannon sparks up a relationship with Sayid officer in the Iraqi Republican Guard. So is the blonde vixen heading back to Hawaii to film the final season of Lost (TV) or what? The final season of Lost (TV) is only a few months away and we are hearing that one cast member might not make it back to the island. Remember Maggie Grace? She played Shannon Rutherford on thirty-five episodes of Lost. »

An 'Eclipse' First Look With Xavier Samuel In Today's Daily TwitPic

2 November 2009 5:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

I have a sneaking suspicion that this post-Halloween, Monday morning Daily TwitPic is going to be familiar to a lot of you. With a fanbase as rabid as "Twilight"'s, a reveal like this has a way of spreading like wildfire across the community. Still, a Daily TwitPic is a Daily TwitPic, and this one is an early glimpse at "Eclipse."

One of the new characters introduced in the saga's third book/movie is Riley, who will be played by Xavier Samuel. He's a newborn vampire in the thrall of Victoria (previously Rachelle Lefevre, now Bryce Dallas Howard), a pawn the vampiress uses in her plans for exacting revenge on Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) for the death of her mate, James (Cam Gigandet). To celebrate last week's successful "Eclipse" wrap. director David Slade posted this first look at Samuel-as-Riley "between set ups."

Tracking Shot November 2009: Beginners, Black Swan, Let Me In

2 November 2009 | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

- At the beginning of every month, Ioncinema.com's "Tracking Shot" features a handful of projects that we feel are worth signaling out and that are moments away from lensing. As we get closer to holiday dates productions tend to drop, so this November we are keeping tabs on only a handful of projects. Mike Mills is finally getting to work on his sophomore feature which would see Ewan McGregor play a young man rocked by two announcements from his elderly father (Christopher Plummer)…one, that he has terminal cancer, and two, that he’s coming out of the closet. One more name will join the cast - perhaps the age of Brendan Fraser when he was in Gods and Monsters. Filming is set for L.A. Not much production info has been divulged on Darren Aronofsky's next film. Word was that production would begin this month and that »

Culver City, California — Believe it or not, there are some people out there who don't remember "Single White Female" (a random polling of MTV interns yielded sad, sad results). There are others who wouldn't mind seeing the classic thriller reimagined for a post-Internet, post-cell-phone generation. And for all these folks, Leighton Meester, Cam Gigandet and Minka Kelly have been hard at work filming the story of "The Roommate" from hell.

"The biggest change now is it's a different time and people are dealing with things in a different way, and information is passed a different way," Gigandet explained of the very loose update of the 1992 Bridget Fonda/ Jennifer Jason Leigh hit. »

Sure, it’ll be a hardship watching the original Twilight again, but we think we’re up to it and once we’ve booed at James (Cam Gigandet) and cheered for the Cullens, we’ve got the ultimate way to test our refreshed knowledge – the Twilight Scene It? iPhone game. »

Karl Urban Talks 'Priest' Fangs And Fashion

20 October 2009 6:14 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

The Hollywood vampire craze is leaking into comic book territory with the upcoming movie "Priest," an adaptation of the popular manga series. The film already has "Twilight" and "True Blood" credibility thanks to performances from Cam Gigandet and Stephen Moyer, but there's a sci-fi veteran is bringing a little bit of space into the movie as well.

Karl Urban, who played Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" last summer, is set for the villainous role of Black Hat, the leader of a pack of vampires that abduct the niece of the titular warrior priest and vampire hunter played by Paul Bettany.

Urban spoke out about his involvement in the film during a recent interview with Collider, describing the film as a mixture of all sorts of genres.

"I'm currently shooting a really wicked film called 'Priest,'" Urban said. "It's this really cool, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, »

In addition to two of our favorite vampire franchises—HBO's "True Blood" and Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight"—being nominated in several categories (we already wondered who would win a fang-off between Alexander Skarsgård and Cam Gigandet, both nominated for best villain), there's some even bigger news. The awards ceremony will feature world premiere footage of "New Moon" less than a month before its November 20 opening!
